<ooc - Well I don't know what you mean by unbreakable sunglasses but the idea was (as I said in my last post) that after we kill the assassins we take their airship that they stole from Devoran the Al'bed and then fly to meet Sin. And yeah we may have to run around on chocobos for ages coz Squall said it'll be a month before we fight Sin and it's only a few days tops til the assassins catch up with us so we need something to do in the meantime...>

occ If we do end up finishing off all the alrdy dead Maestors (Mika, Seymour and Kinok) we could fight the ronso Maestor but he was a victim jst like everyone else (he was the only good Maestor). I put dibs on Seymour to avenge Mika.

Also here's an idea we fight the 3 alrdy dead Maestors after Sin thus helping to end Sin and defeat Yevon, and they be our final battles, since the Maestor would b well powerful we could fight them 2 on 1. Eg Kobie and Sonya fight Kinok. Tanis and Fariel fight Mika. Neji and Melina fight Seymour. or i could be a big 6 on 3 battle.

The group under the shadows of the high rise cliffs that boarded the calm lands had set up a small camp. Melina sat quiet happily beside the small fire talking to Sonya about various subjects, although Sonya had her staff in hand ready for anything.
Neji and Kobie had run off chasing a group of fiends in which they were massacaring and letting fly away in a spread of pyraflies, Kobie keeping an eye on Fariel who was still running around in circles upon the chocobo.

"You think she's ever going to let the poor thing go?" Kobie asked Neji as he fired an arrow into wasp fiend, knocking it out the sky dead.

"Not likely."

"Hey chocobo, mind if i call ya Ferin?" she asked, the chocobo gave the usual kweh in reply making her smile, "My partner in the crusaders was a chocobo claled Ferin, she was good fun, kinda like you. Although you aren't a crusader chocobo you lucky thing. Don't you get tied up in that, you'll regret it."

Fariel laughed again as the chocobo seemed to nod before running on further out towards the middle of the wide area, kweh'n all the way, then ground to a halt nearly throwing Fariel up over the top of him as a dog fiend (forgotten all the names XD lol) ran out infront of them.

"Hehehe c'mere ya beast! Ferin stay." she said hoping off the back of the chocobo and drawing her wave swords.

"Look, she's found another play thing." Neji said sarcastically, Kobie turning away from the dog he was attacking to see.

"These fiends aren't much of a challenge, they won't hurt her." Kobie said but his next sentence was cut off as the dog jumped on him and knocked him over, but bust into pyraflies at Kobie drew hsi claws out from it and got up. "Well maybe not much."

Fariel almost danced to the side as the dog launched at her but she spun around and cut down the side of it with her sword, its landing hindered into a crash making her laugh, "C'mon ya call yourself a fiend?" she mocked, the dog growled and came at her again, though was blasted backwards again in a hail of pyraflies as the watera thundered into it, "Stay down!" she grinned, Ferin striding up to her and looking at her strangly, "What? Don't worry i wouldn't do that to ya." she whispered rubbing the birds neck.

"I dunno how long me and the others are staying here for but there's got to be more then just the open plains, do ya know anywhere to explore...or any trees to climb? This place is like a...spring time waste land."

Ferin kweh'd again and Fariel climbed onto his back as it ran off back up the slope that they had arrived from, but then jumped off the other side, making her yell. but they landed safty on a lower level cliff with a wide open toped crack that dissapeared through the cliff, looking at it and then back at Ferin she smiled and they wondered off through it.

"Crap, where did she go this time..." Kobie muttered to himself as they finished the fiends, "You can't leave that girl for five minutes without her running off somewhere."

"No you can't, why don't you go get her, i'm going to go look for smoe more fiends."

"Sure, okay."

"Whoa, Remiem Temple! This is more like it! I aint been here before" Fariel yelled looking at the masive temple that sat across the wooden bridge that linked it to the land, as it was surrounded by nothingness. "Heh heh, c'mon!" she said snapping the reigns, Ferin running on across the bridge slightly worried but reached the other side. "So how do we get inside?"

The large tall doors had glyphs on them and were quite daunting, looking at it she thought about it but Ferin strided around the side of the temple, Fariel questioning it but then the chocobo picked up a blue spere that laid next to a gate in its beak and gave it to her.

"Huh, okay."

Chocobo Racing was the first thing that was said and she didn't need to hear anything else, putting the shpere back down and entering through the gate they stood ready and smiling, wiped the reings and went running down the narrow runway that weaved into many different paths down around the base of the temple.

"Woo!"

(occ - yes you cannot ride a chocobo and not go and try the race thing :p ya just can't :p lol so yeah you can't tell how bored i am, course not :P lol So yeah ^^: thats my bordom post for the day :p later)

Kobie drew on the tracking skills he had learned as a Custodian (ooc - that’s what I have randomly decided to call the Sin-worshippers) and followed Fariel’s trail down the steep incline and around the precarious cliff edge. He stopped as he approached the temple floating impossibly in midair, apparently buoyed up by some unseen magical force, and just stood there stunned for a second. If the legends were right, he’d just stumbled upon Remiem temple, home of the Magnus Sisters Aeons.

Suddenly he heard a loud whoop and a chocobo’s cry, and briefly glimpsed Fariel riding her new chocobo round the twisting paths that surrounded the temple before she vanished again behind a rocky spire.

“Fariel!” he shouted after her, but she obviously didn’t hear him. He shook his head. He wasn’t about to go chasing after her, though he had a good view of the temple entrance so he could stop her if she tried to go in alone. He’d keep an eye on Fariel, and she’d come back in her own time. He wasn’t going to just waltz in there without the others either, so he sat down, took out his pocket-knife and began fledging arrows with some of the undamaged chocobo feathers that were lying around the plains. He had bought arrowheads at Rin’s and fashioned shafts from the ash trees of the elven forest, but until now he hadn’t found any suitable feathers to fledge them with and his supply of already-made arrows was running low.

He had only been working about ten minutes when Neji appeared, followed by Sonya and Melina.

“Did you find her?” Neji asked, while the girls looked in stunned silence at the majestic temple.

“She’s just running her chocobo round the pathways outside the temple,” he replied, “Don’t worry, I’m keeping an eye on her.”

“What’s that?” Melina asked curiously, looking at the reinforced leather bag into which Kobie had just carefully placed the last finished arrow and fastened the cover securely.

“Better than a quiver,” Kobie explained, “It’s close topped and waterproof so you don’t lose all your arrows if you fall over, and it doesn’t let the rain in which would warp the shafts. Plus it’s reinforced so the feathers don’t get crushed. Oh, and it holds more arrows. More practical, basically. Hunters use quivers, but proper archers use these.”

He shouldered the bag and stood up next to Sonya, squeezing her hand in a friendly way. She returned the squeeze with a smile.

“Shall we call Fariel back and have a look inside then?” she asked.

“Let’s not get sidetracked,” Melina cautioned, thinking the situation through, “We don’t know what we’ll find in there.”

“Come on now, Melina,” Neji said, drawing his pistols, “What could possibly be in there that the six of us can’t handle?”

“Maybe you’re right,” Melina conceded, “What am I saying, this is Remiem temple, home of the Magnus Sisters! This place doesn’t feel evil. And if we can talk to the Aeons we might get some idea of where Sin is at the moment.”

“Come on Fariel!” Kobie shouted as the girl came pounding round the track on yet another circuit, “We’re going inside the temple!”

The Six compainions approached the main enterance, it towered above them and of the enterences of the preavious temples, Melina and Neji had done much travelling when on their pilgramig and had visited all the temple apart from this one, and even they had never seen anything like, Neji approached the temple and tried to push the door open, he heaved and heaved but made no progress in opening the door. He turned to Kobie, "well are you just gonna stand their or are you gonna lend me a hand?"

Together they pushed at the door and eventually the door began to move with a great creak, dust and rust crumbled off the hinges and between the two doors. Kobie and Neji entered first followed closely by Fariel, Sonya and Melina. They all gazed upon the magnificant hall which seemed to rise to the heavens. It was similar to all the other temple but was grander by far. The angels gazed at the magnificant Architecture (occ cant beleive i spelt the rite! considering my poor spelling). Apart from being much bigger and more beautiful than the other temples, it seemed empty, all their was, was the usual statues of the previous high summoners minus two Lady Yocun and high summoner Braska. High Summoner Gorgan (i forgot his name), High Summoner Ohalland's statues stood proud in these temple with above them the Statue of Lady Yunalesca and her guardian/husband (i know i made this up, i dont think there was any statues in the temple but this way we can judge how old it is). Indeed this temple was old since it didnt have a statue of Lady Yocun who defeated Sin over 100 years ago. All that appeared to be in here was the great door behind the angels and a smaller door at the other end of the hall.

Neji approached to door to inspect, upon getting a better look he immediatly reconised it from his previous travels. "the chamber of the Faith! Melina come quick!" Melina followed by the other Angels hurried accross the room towards Neji, "look Melina the chamber of the faith, ha and no trials, what don you say Melina, i know its been awhile but i think the Magus sisters would be quiet useful don't you think," Melina nodded, the door opened upon Melina getting closer and she walked casually to the chamber of the faith to begin her preyer. Fariel tried to sneak in through the door behind Melina but was pushed back by Neji, "only the summoner can enter the Chamber of the Faith, you'll just have to wait pathiently until she exits," the door slammed behind once Melina was well inside, Neji stood arms folded infront of the door his acting out his Guardian job. Fariel mummbled something under her breath then stuck her tougue out at Neji, andered Neji attempted to grap her but, quickly she avoided him and hid behind Kobie.

Kobie looked down strangly at the girl hiding behind him but she grinned innocently and ran off, Ferin was standing with his head peering through the door at them strangly but was ushered in by Fariel and they went and sat in the corner quietly, as quietly as you got with a chocobo.

"How long will she be praying to the faith?" Kobie asked breaking the strange look Neji was giving Fariel and her strange new friend.

"She's a good summoner, it shouldn't be long." he replied with full confidence in Melina's abilities.

"Um Fariel what are you doing?" Sonya asked having her attention dragged to the girl climbing up the wall.

"Me? I'm climbing what's it look like. This thing has so many engravings in it, it makes tree's look hard to climb."

"But where are you going?"

"To sit up there,"

"Why?"

"Because i'm strange and there's a better view from up here."

"Yeah don't think your going to sneak into the Chamber Of Faith Fariel, there's no other way in." Neji broke in and smiled as he heard the muttering from the girl.

All the way up the walls there were embossed slates that made a ring around the hall , sitting maybe half a meter out the wall, Fariel quickly reaching the first one and sitting on it quite happily looking up to see where the next one was, already a fair height above the ground, Ferin looking at her stranger then usual.

"Riight, well, yell if something happens" she said laying down on the slate nearly out of sight apart from her leg dangling over the edge swinging.

(occ - yes i'm bored and my bus isn't here yet XD LOL so yeah, i don't know what you guys have in mind so i'm just messing around until Melina's done :) yay spam XD lol oops its 8, x.x got to run!)

"Can this giant rust bucket move any faster?!" Kerr snarled drawing his sword and moving closer to the terrified al'bed who was working on the interior of the airship when they boarded it.

"Back off jackass, i'm doing the best i can!" the al'bed engineer retorted.

"You should determin the value of your arms before you speak to me like that again." Kerr hissed.

"Kerr!" Kirareq snapped, dragging the young man's attention to the mage standing up at the front of the bridge, "Leave that thing alone, you can play with it when we arrive."

Kerr growled and sheathed his sword, walking away and wheeled around to look at the al'bed as the airship choked into speed, all of them having to adjust their balance to stay upright, although the al'bed pathetically fell sideways.

"That's much better! See, that wasn't hard now was it! Tell me how long until we get to the calm lands at this speed?"

"A few hours at that." the al'bed said .

"If this thing dosn't fall out the sky first." Kiba muttered to himself looking out the front display at the clouds zooming pasts.

(Meanwhile a couple hours later in the calm lands :3 lets get some action going hahaha then we can go mess about for a while :p lol as we do)

Ferin stood up and flapped his wings randomly, Fariel dozing against the cliff face under the arch that made the entrance through to Remiem temple where she knew Neji was still standing by the door of the chamber of the faith, and last she saw of them, Kobie and Sonya were on the bridge talking.

Fariel growled and drew her sword as Ferin headbutted her and then jumped back as she attacked him.

"Oh hey, hey, sorry about that." she said soothingly, but Ferin kept his distance and started flapping again. "What's your problem?" then he started kweh'n. "What the heck is that...?"

Standing up and looking at the skies at the other end of the clam lands and probably a fair distance away, a black bird, seemingly without wings grew ever bigger, smoke trailing it. Looking at each other desperatly Fariel jumped onto the chocobos back and they ran towards the temple again.

"KOBIE!" she yelled, grabbing his attention immdediatly.

"What?!" he yelled almost sarcastically but when she pointing at the fully visible ship coming closer and closer he rolled his eyes and looked at her accusingly, "What have you done now Fariel?"

"Hey, don't make me hurt you." she said grinding to a halt at the start of the bridge.

"I'll go get Neji, you go with Fariel okay?" he said running along the brige, Sonya nodding and running towards fariel, staff in hand.

"wanna lift?"

"On that?"

"Oh come on, havn't you ever ridden a chocobo?"

"Do i want to?"

Pratically being dragged onto the chocobo's back she yelled bur Ferin ran back towards the calm lands.

(occ - alright, so i'm dissapearing for a week, maybe more, maybe less, but please get some fight scenes in with some terribly corney but great lines in it, and Fenix, hold back on the monologues for a while k? Hehe cya all later)

The chamber of Faith door opened, immediatly Neji turned to face the happy Melina who walked casually out of the room.

"I trust it went well?" Melina smiled and nodded.

"I enjoyed my prayer to the sisters, I look forward to seeing their power,"

"that makes two of us but lets get back to the oth-" Suddenly coming rushing into the temple came Kobie with a concered look on his face.

"They're something going down at the Calm lands, an airship is about to land, it could be Al'bed but,"

"Airship? in these parts? this land is sacred to Yevon they would never allow Al'bed to land here, they will proberly be excucuted and the Al'bed know that,"

Melina interupted "then it proberly is'nt Al'bed,"

"then who?" Kobie and Neji said in sync to Melina, but she only shurgged her shoulders in reply

"Sonya and Fariel are checking it out, we should catch up on them,"

Neji nodded and ran behind Kobie who was leading the way.

(short post i know but its just to get things started u guys have been dead l8ly and i know As u have an excuse, i'll leave start up of the fight to someone else cause i suk at writing group things also i dont like writing for other ppl)

“We’ve found them, Maester,” Kiba growled, using Kirareq’s orb to communicate with Mika back in Guadosalam.

“You know what to do,” Mika replied, his voice betraying no emotion whatsoever, “They are thieves, murderers, traitors and heretics. Kill them all.”

Kiba rumbled an acknowledgement.

“May Yevon be with you,” Mika said quietly, and signed off.

* * *

Sonya slid off Ferin’s back and shaded her eyes against the sun to try and make out what the bizarre machine in the air was.

“Is that an airship?” she asked, “What would an Al’bed be doing around here?”

They aren’t Al’bed, Sonya, a now-familiar voice said quietly inside her head.

Closing her eyes and using Tritoch’s Farsight ability, Sonya let her consciousness fly upwards like a falconer loosing a hawk. She circled and closed in on the whirring airship and saw the occupants through the porthole windows. The assassins!

Suddenly the witch, Kirareq, spun round and looked straight towards the window and Sonya felt a sharp pain in her head as her clairvoyant presence was violently expelled from the airship. She staggered back a pace and gasped in pain.

“You okay?” Fariel asked as she dismounted and let Ferin run back towards the temple.

“It’s the assassins!” Sonya gasped, “They’ve caught up with us!”

“Oh, sweet unsent Yevon on a pogo-stick…” Fariel breathed.

Sonya turned and saw that Fariel was not looking at her, but up at the airship. A great glowing meteor of fire had blasted from the airship’s prow and was swiftly coming towards them. Not only had Kirareq seen them, she was casting Firagas at them!

Sonya threw up her arms and a halo of light surrounded her and Fariel just as the Firaga smashed into them and blew a gaping crater in the ground where they were standing. Great clods of earth rained down and as the flames flared out and the dust began to settle, the two women were still crouching behind Sonya’s shield spell, driven to their knees by the force of the blast but otherwise unharmed.

Sonya straightened and punched her fist towards the sky.

“Tritoch, help me…” she whispered, and then aloud, “Firannon!

For a second, lightning coiled and crackled around her arm, then bolts of lightning lanced from her fist up into the sky once, twice, three times. A sphere of light appeared where they struck the clouds, collapsed in on itself, then burst outwards again in a massive electrical storm. The clouds turned dark and the air was rent by sheet lightning, bright flashes surrounding the airship. A bolt of lightning zigzagged down and blew apart one of the airship’s rotors, and as the storm began to dissipate the airship spiralled downwards in its wake, trailing smoke, until it slammed into the ground with such force that it crumpled much of the airship’s superstructure and drove a trench in the plains for a good 50 metres before grinding to a halt. Sonya and Fariel held up their arms to shield their faces as they were showered with earth.

Sonya’s magical lightning storm flickered out, leaving an oppressive silence hanging in the air until Kobie, Neji and Melina came running across the plains towards them.

“You shot them down?” Neji asked mildly, looking at the ruins of the airship.

“Did she half!” Fariel laughed with hysterical sarcasm. Even Sonya herself looked stunned at the devastation her spell had caused.

“It was the assassins,” she explained.

“Or at least, it was,” Fariel added, advancing cautiously towards the airship. The others followed.

“No-one could’ve survived that, right?” she said hopefully as they tried to peer through a gaping rent in the cabin where the door had been torn clean off. Smoke obscured their view.

Suddenly Kobie and Sonya were hurled backwards by bolts of dark energy that shot from inside the crashed airship, and a crossbow quarrel buried itself in Neji’s chest. He roared in anger and tore it out as a black-clad figure leapt through the smashed doorway.

“Wrong again, Far!” Kerr shouted in triumph as, one after the other, Kirareq, Kiba and the Guado dropped down onto the grass. With a mighty shout Kiba slammed his broadsword into the ground and the resulting shockwave flung the Angels into the air and smashed them down again a hundred metres away with concussive force. As the dazed Angels staggered to their feet, the four assassins advanced towards them in a wide line, grim determination etched on their faces.

<ooc - there you go, we can spend the next 3 weeks fixing the airship that Sonya wrecked with her ripoff of Eldritch Storm>

Neji was first to his feet and assisted Melina up but had to abandon it quickly and draw the set sword as Kiba’s broadsword came thundering through the air towards him, metal met metal in a loud clap and array of small sparks, Melina cowering aside as multiple swings drove Neji back in defensive parry’s.

Kobie was barely up by the time Kiba was launching at him, but twisted the attack around, Kobie lifted his leg’s and as the Guado almost flew down towards him he grabbed the upper shoulders of him and carefully placing his feet on the guado’s chest kicked him up over and past into the ground behind.

Sonya watched Kobie with a smile as she quickly got to her feet and was even quicker still face to face with Kirareq holding her orb menacingly, Sonya rose her staff and grinned, but it faltered and faded as the orb rose from the mages hand and glowed until it was just a light and extended out, round and down into a circle of light, three spines extending at each section around the light then the light faded to reveal the deadly looking round blade, like none she had ever seen. Raising her staff in a ready position the two launched at each other.

Fariel kicked up off the ground and landed on her feet ready and waiting for the attack from Kerr who she was horrified to see holding his arm up with the crossbow already aimed at her head.

“Miss me?” he asked devilishly.

“You wish.” she retorted with a harsh sneer.

“I’m going to take those nice new weapons of yours as a trophy when I kill you Far, hope you don’t mind.”

“Don’t worry Kerr, I’ll be taking your head on a pike, which is highly more likely then you taking my swords.” she said closing her eyes

”Just die!” he growled, pulling the trigger, the bolt leaving the crossbow and spinning silently through the air, he took a step back distraught as Fariel’s eyes snapped open and she spun her shoulder back, the bolt flying harmlessly away past her. “You bitch, die!” he yelled ripping off the crossbow and launching at her, his sword swords finding their way to his hands.

“I’d determine the value of your arm’s before you speak to me like that again.” she said drawing her wave swords.

Kerr stopped in his advance for a second, frozen but shook it but and launched at her again, the force of his swords pushing her back as she parried them. He at her again, with one sword this time, she parried it as before but his second sword came down at her leg’s, but her leg moved and he faltered down with his attack and was quickly kicked back.

<ooc - oh damn. Well, I've written this so I'll post it, but you'll have to imagine it happenening before As's last post>

The assassins circled slowly, marking their designated targets.

“This is it, Far,” Kerr growled as he spun his two short-swords in his hands, “This is where it has all been heading. Why did it have to come to this? When you gave your territory to me in Luca, the authorities picked up my trail and I guess that wasn’t your fault but I had to run for it before the enforcers came down on my arse like a ton of bricks. I thought I’d given them the slip, but then I ran into Maester Seymour. I thought I was doomed but he offered to spare my life if I helped his Guado stooges find you. I did that.

But I still had respect for the thief who taught me everything I know, so I came back to Guadosalam and I freed you guys. That would have been the end of it, but no - you locked me in there and left me to die. You made it personal.”

He was shouting now, his face twisted in a snarl of hate.

“And one of us is going to be screaming our way to the Farplane before I let that go! This is where it ends, Far! It’s time to settle the score once and for all! No more running, no more hiding, just you and me!”

“ What a lot of **** you talk!” Fariel shouted back, “Like the sound of your own voice, dontcha Kerr? Spare me the banter, the obvious jokes and clichés - let’s just do this!”

Kerr charged towards her, and Fariel braced herself for the imminent attack.

* * *

Kobie and Sonya stood side by side, faced by the witch Kirareq and the cackling Guado assassin. Kobie flexed his fingers and gripped the bars that projected from the metal bracers of his Dragon’s Claws. His thumbs touched the buttons on the ends of the bars, and the twin blades snapped forwards from each bracer, glinting in the sunlight. He never took his eyes of the Guado, who was crouched in the classic knife-fighter’s stance with two of his poisoned blades held ready.

“Now time you die!” the Guado hissed. Kobie merely returned his bloodshot gaze impassively.

“That was a most impressive lightning storm you just conjured, child,” Kirareq said to Sonya nearby as the two mages stood opposite each other, the only movement being their cloaks blowing round them in the fitful wind. “Before I was just going to kill you, but now I see you do have a modicum of magic potential, I have a better use for you. Do you know what this is?”

She held up the orb, with the trapped Pyraflies of the witch’s dead rivals glowing inside the purple glass.

“I know.” Sonya replied darkly.

“Then you know what fate awaits you,” Kirareq said with a leer, “This is your future - never to see the Farplane, only to be a slave to my will, increasing my power with your sacrifice.”

“Today you’re going to pay for what you’ve done,” Sonya answered softly.

Kirareq laughed, as if amused by the threat.

“Welcome to your death, child.” she hissed, and the orb began to pulse as it gathered energy for a magical attack. Sonya spun her staff and held it diagonally behind her, parallel with her arm, and awaited the onslaught.

* * *

Kiba, the bandit prince, stalked slowly towards Neji, moving with a deadly, graceful ease in his armour of black metal.

“You killed my brother, Neji,” he said simply, “He was beaten and unarmed, and yet you still murdered him.”

“And did he ever spare his beaten and unarmed foes?” Neji countered, “Killing vermin like your brother is not murder, it’s pest control.”

Kiba roared in anger.

“I will have my revenge on you, Neji!” he shouted.

“Fine,” Neji replied defiantly, Melina at his side, “You seek the same fate as your brother? Then bring it on!”

The sand shield began to swirl around Kiba and his eyes turned red as he spun the great sword round his head. Neji raised Loki and Hades and blasted away.

<ooc - a note, just coz I’ve set this up as separate battles, it’s fine to have them mixing around and working together to take on each other’s assassins. In fact, I think it’d be cool if we did show some teamwork>

Sonya was still trying to figure out how Kirareq had nullified her magic when the witch leapt towards her. Though Kirareq looked about 50, she had the agility of a much younger woman and Sonya was driven back as she spun and slashed the round blade downwards in a series of fluid strokes, finally forcing the Angel to jump backwards as she scythed it round in a horizontal arc.

Kirareq stepped forward to continue the attack with a vicious uppercut, but Sonya avoided by launching herself upwards to finish in a handstand on top of her vertically-planted staff, then swung down and round and kicked Kirareq to send the witch-assassin reeling.

Seeing an opening, Sonya thrust the end of her staff into Kirareq’s stomach and, as the witch doubled up, spun the staff to slam the other end upwards into her face and knock her over backwards, but before she could bring the staff down on her fallen opponent Kirareq had backflipped away. The witch bounded forward again, actually jumping feet-first through the hoop of her blade to floor Sonya with a flying kick. With her staff trapped under her, Sonya instinctively raised her arm in futile defence as the round blade scythed down. To her surprise it reverberated off the blade of the dagger, still concealed in its sheath, strapped to her forearm. Though pain shot up her arm and made her cry out, Sonya managed to swing her leg round to trip Kirareq, who avoided it by leaping backwards. This gave Sonya space to plant her staff and use it to vault upwards, cartwheeling over it to smash first one foot then the other into Kirareq’s jaw. Sonya swung her staff forward, but Kirareq had recovered quickly and met it with her blade. She shoved Sonya backwards and counterattacked, slashing at Sonya’s exposed side and the Angel screamed in pain as one of the blades bit home, slicing through her hip. Sonya staggered back, clutching the bleeding wound with one hand and Kirareq charged forward. Sonya tried to focus beyond the pain and, using all her strength, she managed to hook her staff between Kirareq’s arm and the round blade, and levering her staff round she threw the witch to the floor.

Kirareq snarled as she stood up, and spat out blood from her split lip. Sonya, half doubled-up with the pain from her side, and with her arm still stinging from Kirareq’s other savage blow, used the pause to try and cast the elven healing spell, but she could feel the witch-assassin’s dispel magic fighting to nullify it and it was too strong. As she sank to her knees Kirareq laughed.

But then Tritoch’s hook-beaked face flashed before Sonya’s eyes and her staff suddenly blazed with white fire.

“What? No!” Kirareq shrieked as Sonya healed herself and clambered to her feet. Her round blade glowed and shrank back into its original form as a purple orb.

“Very well, child!” she spat, “Let us duel like proper mages! Let’s see your magic skills!”

The sand sheild was successful in blocking everyone of Neji's bullets, each shot was absorbed into the thick sand and crushed to gun powder, Kiba laughed mockely at Neji's febel attemps.

"You would think you would of learned by now Neji, you've only begun to see my power," Kiba left off a great roar and sand spiraled around Kiba in a show of power. Neji looked on undaunted by Kiba until he heard a scream from behind him, quickly he spun round to see Melina incased in a coffen of sand, all that could be seen was her petrified face. With Neji distracked Kiba took this opportunty to launch himself at Neji and swing at him mightly with his sword. Seeing him at the last minute Neji ducked to avoid the attack and coming with an upward kick tried to to kick Kiba away but the sand repelled the attack. Kiba jumped backed and smirked at the enraged Neji.

"Let her go Kiba!" again Kiba attacked but this time his blow was blocked by Neji's sword, the to stared at eachother with bitter hate and it was then Kiba noticed the change in Neji, slowly the black markings began to spread through out his body and Kiba felt himself get pushed back, until finally Neji was able to force him to lose alot of ground and begin with an offencive, Neji attacked with great speed from every angle even from behind but the sand sheild was just able to keep up with his attack and narrowly block most of them, on the occation Kiba had to use his sword to parry a few attacks.

Neji stopped his attacks and store down the shocked Kiba, surprised on how much Neji had improved. Kiba in a violent rage charged towards Neji, sword drawn. With a mighty battle cry Neji returned the charge and they continues their fight.

Kobie twisted his upper body to dodge a throwing knife and deflected a second with his Dragon’s Claws as the snarling Guado stood up and began attacking him. The assassin leapt at him in a flurry of blows, but Kobie parried expertly and then lashed out, forcing the Guado back as he spun round in a cyclone of blades. The Guado returned to the attack, holding his two blades points-downwards, raining vertical blows on Kobie and forcing him to give ground until he finally pushed the Guado back with a sweeping uppercut. Kobie’s retreat had brought him into Neji and Kiba’s combat zone, and Kiba swung his broadsword at him with an angry growl even as he used his other hand to blast Neji backwards with a sorcerous bolt of dark energy. Kobie had to Timeshift to avoid being decapitated by the sweeping blow, ducking under it. Then, still moving at supernatural speed, he slashed backhand with his claws at Kiba. The sand shield released Melina, dropping her onto the ground and whirling to intercept him and for a second he thought he had beaten it, but then it slammed his arm aside so that the blow merely glanced off Kiba’s shoulder-plate. The sand lashed out like a whip to hurl him backwards. When Kobie had flipped back onto his feet, the Guado was again blocking his path and cackling to himself as he brandished his knives.

“Don’t worry, Kobie,” Neji growled in his half-demonic voice, the black marks that were now covering his body pulsing with dark energy as he raised the Set sword and brought it slashing down, while Kiba knelt to parry horizontally, “This son of a bitch is mine!”

Behind him Melina staggered to her feet coughing and used Fira to shoot another of the Guado’s throwing knives out of the air as it sped towards Neji, then raised her arms to summon Bahamut against Kiba, but Kobie saw no more of their battle for the Guado was on him again. He shouted in anger as he drove the Guado back and leapt at him, lunging with both sets of claws then landing in a diving roll to straighten and meet the assassin’s counterattack, and parried it with such force that the Guado dropped one of his combat knives. Instead of pausing to draw another of the wicked blades, the Guado immediately floored Kobie with a punch from his free hand and, shouting in triumph, took his remaining dagger in both hands and lunged downwards.

But Kobie wasn’t on the ground anymore. He had Timeshifted, and the Guado was still catching his balance and cursing as he looked around for his opponent when the tips of Kobie’s Dragon Claws exploded out of his chest. Kobie ripped the blades free from the Guado’s back in a spray of blood and stepped back as the Guado staggered forward, choking. The assassin turned to face Kobie and he waited for him to collapse but, impossibly, the Guado’s hacking cough changed to laughter as he came at Kobie again, seeming to just shrug off what should have been a killing thrust.

“What the frak are you!?” <ooc - yep, no “real” F-words in my posts ;) >

* * *

Sonya reeled back as a hail of purple energy bolts hammered against her shield spell, not giving her an opening to cast an offensive spell of her own. She felt her shield failing and dropped it as Kirareq sent a Firaga hurtling towards her. Holding up her hand, Sonya used the Rebound spell Alarielle had taught her and the Firaga ground to a halt mere inches from her fingertips, still blazing in midair. Grimacing in concentration she thrust her hand forward and the giant fireball reversed direction, now screaming back towards Kirareq, who braced and shielded her face as the Firaga flared against her own magical shield. Sonya followed up with an Ishara, thrusting her staff forward to send a cyclone of water at the witch and knock her backwards. She dispelled the Thundaga that Kirareq tried to cast at her, but then the witch used a spell unfamiliar to her. An arc of purple light shot up from her orb, a giant clawed hand materialising at the end of it as it shot towards her. Sonya tried to dodge but too late, and the hand clamped over her face, sucking streams of light from her eyes and mouth and making her scream in agony. She felt her energy being sapped away and her legs gave way under her as she was rendered temporarily helpless by Kirareq’s Drain spell.

“Now you die, child!” Kirareq laughed in triumph, and she raised the orb to bring down magenta lightning that smote and split the ground asunder. The summoned skeleton warriors clawed their way out of the craters they made, fleshless faces grinning and purple light pulsing menacingly inside their empty eye sockets. Spinning their scythes, the hunched figures advanced towards Sonya.

She tried to back away but all strength seemed to have left her body and she could only crawl. A skeleton towered silently above her, its scythe held high in both hands, and then it suddenly exploded into shards of bone as a crackling blade swept through it. Kobie slowed from the blur of his Timeshift and defended himself against both the Guado assassin leaping after him and another skeleton warrior. He tried to Timeshift behind the Guado but he seemed to anticipate his move this time and parried. The skeleton was not so fast and burst apart even as it tried to hack its scythe down, Kobie’s lightning-infused claws tearing into its ribcage. Kobie only had time to glance in Sonya’s direction with a reassuring smile before the Guado forced him to parry again.

Sonya, beginning to recover from the Drain, cast the rock elemental spell Lauthelias had taught her, ripping a giant boulder from the ground and, with a sweeping motion from her staff, send it barrelling forwards to crush several of the remaining skeletons.

She raised her staff against the next skeleton attacking her but it broke apart as a dagger flew out of nowhere to pierce its forehead. Fariel flashed her a quick grin before turning back to fighting Kerr, and Sonya slammed her staff down on the fallen skeleton with a Banishing spell before it could reform. It crumbled to dust and disappeared.

Kirareq screamed her rage and raised her orb again.

(occ - short bit of spam for ya, lol i'm sure i told Fenix my ideas already so if i don't post, which is highly likely he'll cover it, wont ya Fenix? :P lol anyway you said work together, so we'll work together :P isn't team work, just sooo much fun XD LOL working in teams is a right bitch, anyway, to the spam that Fenix will have a great time editing :p lol)

Kerr growled loudly at Fariel, constantly swiping at her with his swords, she could merely stay on the defensive, no seconds rest to get a counter in at all.
Fariel’s vision faded past him and she ducked, Kerr flinched noticeably as a knife went kart wheeling past his head, flying stray from the Guado who had targeted Kobie. Kobie reappearing just beside Fariel with determination.

“Watch were you throw those things you idiot!” Fariel yelled to the cackling Guado who vaulted over Kerr with ease and came down at the two of them.

Kobie ducked down in front of Fariel as she got to her feet and parried aside Kerr’s attack as it came down on her. The Guado came down towards Fariel who was now standing where Kobie left, swords up ready to repay the help. (Think trinity from matrix 1 with the jumpy ness thing) Sidestepping as he sliced his blades down towards her she parried one and drove her other sword into his wrist as he landed.

Kobie spun around and caught a glimpse of Fariel’s face as she watched the mad Guado pull his arm off the blade without even flinching.

“What the frak?!” Escaped her before he punched her away from him. (Do you watch battlestar galatica or something to get the frak thing?)

“Fariel!” Kobie yelled kicking the insane Guado in the back sending him rolling forwards.

Climbing to her feet and rubbing her bruising cheek looked around for her fallen swords, but Kerr (typically enough, how fun) was upon her, rolling back out the way of the first strike, and grabbing the nearest wave sword jumped to her feet but only to be punched back down.

“Get, some, originality Far!” he snapped gritting his teeth, “your usual tricks won’t work anymore!”

“Bite me!”

Jumping backwards as Kerr came closer she hoped a few steps back and ran towards him, confused for a second Kerr rose his swords to parry her attack, but she didn’t attack, she threw her sword aside, grabbed him by the upper shoulders and skidded down between his leg’s pulling him consequently over himself and down into the ground.

“Original enough for you, or do you need some more? Bitch” she said running away and gathering her two swords as Kerr got to his feet.

“You’ll pay for that!”

A smile flickered on Fariel’s face as she saw the sheer annoyance on Kerr’s face as he got up and stared at her, his eyes blazing with anger.
He ran at her again, raising his swords to strike, Fariel instinctively rolling to the side, Kerr stumbled as his prey moved and his attack was rendered useless. Launching up onto Kerr’s back she mimicked Silarion, wrapping her legs around Kerr’s waist to not fall back swung down her swords, resting around his neck. looking out the corner of his eye his mouth gaped, how could he, Kerr Locke, have fallen for such a trick, closing his eyes tight he waited the eternity before the end, but it didn’t come. Why wasn’t she killing him? But what did it matter, his anger returned and spinning his sword in his hand, grabbed the hilt so it was held backwards and plunged it into Fariel’s side, throwing her in pain off his back and into the grassy terrain.

“Should have killed me Fariel, for a thief you throw away a lot of good opportunity’s.”

Ripping the blade from her side she threw it aside and breathed heavily. I can’t do it, I can’t kill him. Her thoughts raced, she had been working to this moment for what had seemed an eternity, but she couldn’t take the shot.

Kerr loomed over her silhouetted by the sun, she could make out his face, the giant smug grin of victory smeared across it.

Kerr knelt quietly on the rooftop next to the cloaked Fariel watching the travellers step down the stairs from the Mi’ihen highroad; it was raining, though neither of them noticed it.

“Fariel don’t think because you taught me how to be a thief that I’ll just lay down and take orders from you.”

“Kerr, when you become a better thief then me, then we’ll see whose taking orders
from whom.”

“We’ll see.”

Kerr grunted and rocketed off the rooftop and landed in the market below, disappearing instantly, expertly, well taught.

“Looks like I’m the better thief huh Fariel?”

“No you’re just an arrogant kid who can’t control himself!” she said wrapping her legs around his ankle and rolling over, second guessing the manoeuvre when the pain from her side shot through her.

Though the move was successful and she twisted his leg around enough to send him face first into the ground. Both clambering to their feet at the same time, neither one making any sudden movements.

Neji pushed down on Kiba's sword with all his strength forcing Kiba down to his knee, but it wasnt long until the sand shield wrapped itself between there swords then explode seperating the swords and sending Neji down on his back. Avoided the attack and counter immediatly but once again the sand shield caused him to fall back.

"damn, I just can't get past that shield," Kiba laughed wickedly.

Angered Neji pressed the attack once again never letting up, but not once did he find away past the shield, it seemed to track Neji and predict where he was about to attack, but their was on the rare occasion when it struggled to keep up with Neji and be came close to hitting Kiba.

"I've got it!" Neji charged foward with incredible speed circling around Kiba, he looked confused, but all soon came clear when Neji appeared behind Kiba and lunged forward with a powerful thrust with his sword, the sand raised up to defend. Neji smirked and twisted round the sand and made contact with a powerful kick which sent Kiba flying back. Kiba quickly got up to his feet to look at Neji shocked that he actually made contact and found away past the sand.

"looks like you'r shield is'nt as powerful as you say,"

"You Bastard! how dare you!"

"you have wandered these lands to long Kiba, no more will you kill, this is you'r end,"

"NEVER!" Kiba roared and the sand began to surrond him, Neji looked on in confusing, just what was he doing, he charged forward thrusting his sword but by the time he arrived infront of Kiba his entire body was incased in a cocoon of sand.

"I will shatter you'r sheild," Neji Thrusted forward but upon making contact with the sand his sword ricoshade causing him to lose his balance, in retalation a great spike quickly emerged. Neji twisted his body round to avoid the spike, it continued to pursue Neji has he jumped back to avoid the sharp spike, eventuall it stopped once Neji was some distance from the cocoon.

<ooc - In answer to your “frak” question yes As, I do watch BSG XD and I’m also extremely sick of Dad ranting on about Gaius Baltar being a Cylon “sleeper”. He points it out every time that shot in the intro sequence (the one where Baltar ducks, and his Cylon girlfriend just stands looking at the storm, as a nuclear explosion rips through his house on Caprica) comes on and proclaims “he can’t possibly have survived that!” It’s really quite annoying.

Heh, and this week that Admiral with the proverbial rod up her arse got shot by Baltar’s imaginary friend. Random!>

“He’s an Unsent! He must be a frakking Unsent!” Kobie gasped to Sonya as he threw the Guado back. As the assassin scrabbled to his feet, he unslung his bow, nocked an arrow and drew back the string but Kirareq launched a Wateraga at him before he could fire. He was thrown off his feet, landed heavily and cursed as he picked himself up and found that the bowstring was now soaked and useless. He dropped the elven bow and extended his claws again to meet the whirlwind of attacks as the Guado rushed him, spitting curses. He blocked as many as he could but lost ground, forced to back up in the face of the Guado’s relentless attack. The assassin whirled towards him, all blades and speed, and he was moving so fast Kobie couldn’t even see the knife as it slashed forward, dripping poison. Somehow he turned it aside with his claws but even as he did so another blade seemed to leap from its sheath inside the Guado’s jacket into his other hand, and as the Guado spun round the blade slashed down, slamming deep into Kobie’s left shoulder and down into his lung. He could barely even cry out in pain as the blow drove him to his knees. He tried to breathe, but pain shot through him and he coughed up blood instead.

The Guado locked eyes with him, breathing heavily from the fight, and a leering grimace of a smile crept up his face as he realised he had struck his opponent a fatal blow. Kobie slumped forward and instinctively put a hand down to stop himself collapsing, though he could almost feel his strength seeping out of him as blood oozed from his nose and the wound in his shoulder, and he coughed again to splatter more blood across the grass. His vision was red - red and fading.

The Guado seemed to have forgotten him and was looking around at the other duels taking place nearby. Fariel was staggering back as she tried to avoid Kerr’s attacks, clearly faint from the disabling stab-wound in her side. Neji roared his hatred as he tried to batter a way past Kiba’s defences but was thrown back again by the sand spike, Bahamut rearing up nearby to unleash his Impulse attack as Melina tried to help. Sonya was deflecting another one of Kirareq’s Firaga spells and was too occupied defending herself to see what had happened to Kobie. The Guado grinned and drew a long dagger coated in bright red poison.

“Soul-render,” he hissed. Soul-render poison was an utterly lethal, magic-infused toxin that could penetrate any magical defence and rip the victim’s spirit screaming from their body. Kobie saw where the Guado was looking, saw the grotesque look of animal joy on his face, and as the assassin raised the knife he felt adrenaline surge through him, temporarily pushing away the pain. With a massive effort, he lurched to his feet.

“Help you, lady!” the Guado shouted to Kirareq, and hurled the dagger at Sonya. Kobie dashed forward but too late, and time seemed to stand still as it hurtled through the air towards her…wait a minute - time was standing still! As if in slow-motion the Guado was stooping forward with the follow-through of his throw, his eyes fixed on Sonya. Sonya was turning slowly, much too late, as she saw the dagger flicker at the edge of her vision. Even the dagger itself seemed to slow to a crawl, until Kobie could see the air rippling behind it like a contrail. Everything

Seemed

To slow

Down.

With the last of his strength Kobie dived forward towards the almost-stationary dagger and at first it felt like he was moving through treacle, but then he felt himself speeding up as the Timeshift took effect, until he was a blur of speed racing towards the suspended dagger. He wasn’t sure if he was going to make it - he could feel the air rippling around him as his abilities reached their limit and time began to return to its normal speed. The dagger began to slip away from him, gathering speed.

NO!

He wasn’t sure if it was a strangled gasp out loud or if he was just screaming inside his head, but he dived forward and his hand closed around the dagger’s hilt, and as he fell forward he twisted his body, turned the dagger, and threw it back towards the Guado just as he was straightening from his attack.

Kobie did not see what happened as the world spun around him and his face slammed into the ground, the Guado knife still protruding from his shoulder. He did not hear Sonya scream as she realised what she was seeing. He did not see the dagger tipped with Soul-render bury itself to the hilt in the Guado’s chest, driving into his heart. He did not see the assassin rear back screaming as magical fire engulfed him, his already long-dead body crumbling to dust and his Pyrafly spiralling upwards. Darkness was closing in around him and he heard, as if from far away, Ramuh’s sonorous voice.

It is time, my son.

Kobie supposed he meant time to let go and die.

No, Kobie, it is time to summon me…

<ooc - well, one of the asssassins had to die first! Hurry up Tanis or you'll miss the fight>

Fariel jumped back again as Kerr kept up his attacks, she had dropped one of her wave swords after the previous attack, her whole left side to painful to use the weapon. Regripping her hold on her other sword he rose it again as Kerr attacked but the power just threw it aside.

“I can’t believe I ever looked up at you, you’re pathetic, just like your parents.” Kerr said smugly. Fariel growled as he lowered his swords to sit crossed on each of her shoulders. “Say goodbye.”

Gritting her teeth and taking in a deep breath she back flipped, releasing her side, placing her hands on the ground and kicking her leg’s up into his chin knocking him backwards and off his feet into the ground.
Fariel’s arms caved in under her and she fell into the ground and lay still for a moment as she heard Kerr snarl and get to his feet.

“You just don’t learn Far,” he said rubbing his bruising face, “You can keep attempting your silly little tricks, there’s no one to save you this time, you’re already dead. If I don’t kill you that wound will and then your fraked anyway. You spent a long time in that forest but it doesn’t seem to have made you any better.”

“Leviathan help me, give me strength, do something…” she whimpered, she knew she wasn’t going to beat him with a wound like that.

“What are you doing, praying?” Kerr laughed. “Like “yevon” is going to help you, please.”

Forcing herself to her feet she stared at the man, his grin still wide enough to swallow a house, “You shouldn’t predict victory before you know you’ve won.”

“But Far, this is the end, the end of you, forever! I win!”

“Like hell you do, Leviathan!” she yelled as a waterga flew out from her roaring into Kerr throwing him back. Running towards him she sent another towards him and another, forcing back all the pain she could feel in her she kept running, then rolled, grabbed her fallen sword and rolled up into a jump, raising the sword above her head she landed straight onto Kerr and forced the blade through his chest.

Kerr pushed Fariel off and staggered back, Fariel fell to the ground weakly and stayed still, breathing heavily, watching Kerr out the corner of her eye. He pulled the curved blade out and tossed it aside, blood rained down from his wound, coughing up blood he fell to his knees and crawled towards Fariel as best he could, who could barely move away.

“Goodbye” she whispered as he got to her side and lifted his short sword to strike again.

“I win…” he muttered but fell forwards into the grass, bursting into pyraflies and flittering away to the heavens, leaving a blood stain on the ground where he was.

Taking in long deep breaths as she watched them fly away a tear came to her eye and she fell onto the grass and held her side, before crawling along the ground and grabbing the hilt of her bloodied wave sword, not caring where the other one was.

Three spikes burst out of Sand and impaled Bahamut who burst into flurry of Pryflies, the force knocked Melina back and she fell down hard on her back, Neji now getting exhausted from failed attacks and dodging lethal spikes ran to Melina's side. A voice boomed from the cocoon.

"YOU FOOLS! YOU CAN'T BREAK THOUGH THIS! THIS IS THE ULTIMATE DEFENCE!"

Angered Neji charged at the cocoon, dodging the spikes which came towards him, he leaped up sword held high and brought it down hard on the top of the cocoon, it crashed into the cocoon with heavy force, but their was'nt even a crack, Neji quickly had to dodge the spike which came towards him, and he fell back. The voice boomed from the cocoon again.

"HAHAHAHA, I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU SUFFER NEJI," a spike came shooting out of the coccon and headed straight for Melina.

"NO! MELINA!" The spike came at high speeds towards Melina, not having the energy to avade Melina closed her eyes and awaited doom, yet it did'nt come slowly she opened her eyes and saw the great figure of her guardian standing infront of her arms spread out in a guarding stance, the spike had ripped through Neji stomach.

"NO!!!" Melina cried and tears poured down her face.

"YOU FOOL" NEJI I'M THE ULTIMATE POWER!"

Slowly Neji's head raised his head, blood dipping out his mouth.

"When you have someone precious whom you want to protect, that's when you become truly strong."

Wings sprouted out of Neji's back, and he dropped his sword, slowly the lightning edge formed from his arm, he pulled himself out from the spike and charged at Kiba, he dodged the spikes heading towards him and then thrusted his hand forward, the lightning edge ripped through coccon, and connected with Kiba inside. The Sand began to crumble, and fell to the ground revealing the beaten Kiba, blood poured from his mouth and from where Neji ripped through him straight through the chest and out the other side. Kiba looked up at Neji.

"If you had someone in your life who...who acknowledged your existence...even cared for you...wouldn't that person become the most important...treasured...person in your life?! And when you have that person, you become truely strong,"

Kiba staired at Neji with fear in his eyes, "N..e..j..i,"

"join you'r brother in the farplain Kiba,"

Neji withdrew his hand from Kiba's chest and he slumped to the ground bursting into a hail of Pryflys.

"you are the strongest enemy i have ever faced...but i have a reason why i can't lose" Neji collapes to the ground.

Sonya saw Kobie fall as the Guado assassin burst into Pyraflies and disappeared, and tried to fight her way towards him, keeping Kirareq pinned down with a barrage of Firannon as she did so. She saw the Guado knife sunk deep into his shoulder and feared the worst, but incredibly he was standing up again, his face determined and his hands held up in front of him. His hair had turned white and his face was hard, stern, even a little frightening. He opened his eyes and they too were glowing white.
Sonya stepped back as lightning crackled between Kobie’s hands in an expanding storm, finally bursting outwards in a cyclone of Pyraflies that whirled together with a bright flash to form Ramuh, multicoloured electricity coruscating around the Aeon as he appeared.
With an angry snarl Kirareq thrust her glowing orb towards them and sent a volley of Firagas streaking towards both Ramuh and Sonya. Without a word, Ramuh swept his staff round and a shockwave of white light exploded outwards from him, meeting the fireballs and obliterating them in midair with a shower of fiery sparks. Kirareq cursed and tried again, but the witch’s expression changed from anger to horror as the light of her orb dimmed and her spell refused to cast.
“Your time of judgement has come, Kirareq!” Ramuh thundered, a howling gale whipping his cloak around him as he spoke.

* * *

“Neji!” Melina sobbed, grabbing her Guardian’s shoulders to stop him falling forward, “Neji!”
Neji looked at her silently, then up at the skyline ahead. Melina followed his gaze and thought she saw someone running across the grass towards them, but she couldn’t be sure as the view was obscured by smoke from the crashed airship. She turned back to Neji, who opened his mouth as if to let loose a mighty shout.
But all that gushed from his mouth was blood.

* * *

“Sonya, now!” Kobie shouted, in a voice that was partly his and partly someone else’s.
Sonya leapt towards Kirareq. Her staff blazed with power as she focussed all her energy into one cataclysmic attack and brought it crashing down on Kirareq’s orb. The witch was hurled backwards by the force of the blast and the orb itself shattered with a magenta glare into a thousand glittering fragments. A group of Pyraflies soared upwards, before swarming towards the horrified witch. She tried to beat them off with her hands but they just whirled around her, darting forward to slash effortlessly through the witch’s body and attack again, and though there was no blood, Kirareq screamed every time they swept through her.
Summoning Tritoch’s power Sonya held up her hands, drawing ribbons of multihued light from the air to twist and coil round her, and they began to take shape as tendrils of fire, ice and lightning before lancing out as one combined beam of shining energy. Having no way to dodge or dispel it, Kirareq could only shield her eyes with one arm and twist away as she disappeared behind a flare of magical energy that made the ground shake.
When the magical backlash had subsided the witch was gone, the only trace of her existence a Pyrafly that spiralled slowly upwards before disappearing into the clouds.
The Pyraflies of the mages Kirareq had enslaved hovered for a second, then flitted away as well.
Breathing heavily, Sonya turned back to Kobie as Ramuh nodded approval and disintegrated into a cloud of Pyraflies. Slowly, Kobie’s hair and eyes returned to their normal colour, then a drained, pain-racked look came over his face and he slumped to the ground. The Guado’s knife was still in his shoulder and though the blood covering him had disappeared when he had summoned Ramuh, it now began to trickle again from his nose and mouth. Sonya fell to her knees beside him with a cry of anguish as he gasped for breath. With the last of his strength he ripped the knife out of his shoulder and looked at it for a second before throwing it weakly aside.
“Got the bastard,” he whispered, a ghost of a smile crossing his face, but then he coughed up blood again. He reached up weakly and Sonya took his hand in hers. His bloodied fingers closed convulsively around hers, and she saw him try to draw breath to speak. No sound came, only blood bubbling at his lips as he looked up at Sonya’s tear-stained face. He mouthed the words I love you, then slowly slumped backwards.
“No!” Sonya sobbed, and placed her hands on his forehead, trying to work a healing spell, “Please, Yevon, don’t let it be too late…”

* * *

Fariel lay on her back in a fast-spreading pool of blood, but she wasn’t feeling any pain. The wave sword was still clutched in her hand as she looked up at the sky, and she thought she saw the glittering Pyrafly outlines of her parents drifting towards her. Was she in the Farplane already? Vaguely, she regretted not being able to avenge their deaths on Seymour, or finish her quest to defeat Sin, but that didn’t seem to matter now.
Suddenly a dark shape loomed before her, blocking out the Farplane that shimmered at the edge of perception, and she saw it was a tall figure in black robes with a katana slung across his back.
“Tanis?” she asked in confusion, but then the darkness at the edge of her vision closed in and engulfed her.

"GURAGA!" Melina shouted casting a healing spell on Neji, she pressed down hard on his wound, her hands swimming in Blood and she cast it again, but their was no responce, Neji still showed some life signs, but they were fading fast.

"Come on Neji" she cried as she cast yet another cure spell, "i wont give up so i expect you not to give up either," she cast yet again.

(In Neji's head)

"NEJI! YOU FOOL! GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF!" Diablos yelled from within his cage, everything started to get darker and Diablos could feel himself slowly dying along with Neji, "NEJI!! I CAN HELP! LET ME LOOSE!" But Diablos' cage stayed shut, "Damn it Neji! we share the same body! you die I die!" Still his cage stayed shut. Diablos roared in anger, before calming down and once again speaking to Neji. "Neji, your and Melinas powers are not enough to heal a wound this greatm but if i use my powers to help, them we may be in for a chance," Still to cage did not open. "and what about Melina and you'r unborn son Neji! you said yourself you'r new goal was to bring that child into this world, and be their for Melina." Neji got a flashback from their time with the elves when Melina told him the news and the promise he made to that unborn child.

In the vastness of Neji's mind a lock could be heard opening, and slowly the cage door opened, immediatly Diablos burst from his cage and started aiding in the healing.

(outside)

Melina continued to cast cure spells on Neji, and finally it appeared to be working, slowly his wound began to close and the bleeding stopped, he began to cough up the remaining blood coming out of his mouth, one last time Melina cast Curaga and Neji's eyes shot open as if waking from a nightmare. Quickly he turned to his side and coughed up the remaining blood, before he started to pant severle, finally he began to breath normally and he turned to face the delighted Melina, she wrapped her arms around his neck and held him tight. "dont worry, Melina," Neji placed his hand on Melina's stomach, I still have one more task i need to complete.

"Damn...must have been one hell of a fight!"

Tanis stood looking around the plains. He disregarded the corpses of those already dead and looked for the bodies of his friends. He had passed Neji and Melina on his way here but left them...there were two more important people...one in particular.

Tanis found Kobie first. He was in a bad way as was Sonea but he felt he could save them so he moved on. It was then he found Fariel...she was in an even worse way. Blood pouring from viscious wounds.

Tanis looked at the pitiful sight. If it was anyone exept these five he would have left them for dead. But...not these people, he had to save them.

Tanis prepared himself mentally and physically for what he was about to do. He gathered his friends and bunched them together. Then he slit his wrist. A blue glow eminated from the wound and he felt the energy draining from him. He gave all he had and saw the angels eyes flutter and their wounds heal...

Tanis blacked out.

Kobie sat up and groaned, putting a hand to his shoulder as Sonya and Tanis’ combined magic brought him back from the brink of death. Sonya threw her arms around him and sobbed as he stood up shakily, and he winced but hugged her back, whispering reassurances to her.

“I thought I’d lost you,” she said, tears streaming down her face.

“It’s alright, I’m okay,” he said soothingly, stroking her cheek as tears pricked at his own eyes, “Thanks to you! You were right, it was you who ended up saving me!”

She smiled at that.

“Tanis helped me though,” she said, gesturing towards their half-elven guide as he stooped over Fariel, supporting her head tenderly with one hand while he pressed the cut on the other to the wound in her side. He knelt there for what seemed like a long time, grimacing with pain as his life force flowed into Fariel in a stream of blue light. Finally, Fariel jerked awake and snapped upright, while Tanis fell backwards with a gasp and lay unconscious at her feet.

“Tanis? Tanis!” Fariel shrieked, seizing the half-elf’s hand, “Oh Yevon, Tanis, wake up!”

Tanis moaned and a flicker of a smile crossed his face.

“Don’t worry, Young One - I’ll live. Just give me a moment…”

They helped their guide to his feet and looked around at the battle-scarred prairie. Slowly, a great weight lifted from them as it sunk in that they had finally vanquished the assassins who had hunted them since Macalania. It was a mixture of relief and elation - they had survived and now nothing stood between them and their final goal. To defeat Sin.

But to find him they would need the airship that now lay crumpled like a beached whale before them, slicing out a huge scar in the landscape where it had ploughed through the ground in its crash.

“How the frak are we going to fix this?” Kobie asked, putting his hands behind his head as he looked at the smashed rotor and contorted superstructure.

“This piece of machina’s a write-off,” Neji replied grimly. He subconsciously placed a protective hand over Melina’s stomach as he spoke, which seemed odd to Kobie, but then they had all come so close to losing their loved ones just now… Sonya sensed his tension, and squeezed his hand reassuringly.
Suddenly there was a cough and a crash from inside the airship.

“Stay back!” Tanis said, pushing the Angels behind him and drawing his katana. They were all thinking the same thing - four of the assassins were down, but there was still one unaccounted for. Selina.

“Show yourself!” Tanis shouted as he advanced warily into the smashed interior of the airship. And then he stepped back in surprise.

For a dishevelled Al’bed mechanic had just stumbled from behind a wrecked console and fallen at his feet.

“Show yourself!” Tanis shouted as he advanced warily into the smashed interior of the airship. And then he stepped back in surprise.
For a dishevelled Al’bed mechanic had just stumbled from behind a wrecked console and fallen at his feet.
“Don’t hurt me!” the mechanic yelled looking up at Tanis towering over him and the angel’s who had formed behind him.

“Are you alright?” Sonya asked moving around Tanis to the Al’bed.

“They…crashed my airship…” he muttered to himself, Sonya grinning innocently and nodding sympathetically.

Fariel idly watched from Tanis’s side before wandering on further into the wrecked airship.

“Fariel.” Tanis said grabbing her attention.

“I’m jus’ looking around.” She retorted, a slanted smile crossing Tanis’s face. “We have no hope of getting this rust bucket off the ground.” she commented, “Honestly, do any of us know anything about rebuilding this thing, cause it’s totally frakked.”

“I, I can. I can help you build it. Just don’t hurt me.” The Al’bed interrupted.

Fariel rolled her eyes and looked at the cowering man, “We ain’t gonna hurt ya, now are ya just gonna sit there or are ya gonna fix this thing?”

“Sorry, I’ll go get my tool’s.” he said running off further into the airship.

“Hey wait, was there anyone else on the ship?” Fariel yelled running after him.

“I still think it’s a write off.” Neji muttered leaning against one of the consoles with Melina, “I’ll help out where I can but I don’t think it’s going to get off the ground.”

“Yeah but we’re going to have to try.” Sonya said looking around at the true state it was in.

“It’s going to take a while though.” Kobie added.

oo0oo

“Hey Al’bed guy, where did ya go?” Fariel yelled again but she had lost him, “the cheek! Stupid man’s probably made a runner.”

“I’m listening you know.” The Al’bed snorted from behind her, instinctively Fariel drew her sword and held it at his neck. “I thought you said you weren’t going to hurt me?!” he choked.

“Look, here’s a little bit of information for ya. We’ve been to hell in back in the last few week’s, I’ve had my fair share of near death experiences, and I just killed one of my old friends so try not to sneak up on me or you will regret it!” she snarled, “now that that is out the way you hurry on back to the other’s, I’ll be there in a moment.” she said forcing a smile and sheathing her sword.

“Yes, yes, um ma’am?” He said scurrying away clutching the tool box that he had retrieved.

Sighing as he left she looked around, wasn’t until he was gone that she realised she couldn’t remember how to get back so instead started aimlessly wondering around looking for anything that could be useful.

(occ – yes I’m in a bad moon and I am about to bite someone’s head off, that’s why I’m going to go play halo 2 for the rest of the day and kill lots of things. So yeah, there ya go, boredom post! Anyway, gaming awaits!)

Tanis sat on top of the hilltop waiting for the airship to be fixed. He looked all around him. All he could see was green. Green and more green. With the crashed airship in the middle of it all.

"Is this what our future will be like? green and peaceful? with the odd distraction? can we succeed? can we really do it? can we win this fight and save it all?...damn it...i wish i knew. What if we fail? will the green be replaced with grey and brown? will the earth be stained with the blood of innocents?...NO!!! i can't allow it! i wont let this planet be destroyed! i shall stay with the angels for as long as i have to and when the time comes to stop Selina...i will not fail!!!

Tan looked around him once more...resloute in his descion. He would help save this planet...his friends. He will kill his sister.

He...would go to sleep for the time being.

And thats just what he did. he lay back stared into the clear blue sky...and slept.
