Well basically Medusa V is a planet about to be swallowed by a Warp Storm, but before it goes every race in the 40K universe is heading there, each with their own reasons for beating the crap out of everyone else.

Yeah, Chaos want the planet so they can use the Warp Storm to mutate it into a new daemon world for their new number 1 holiday hotspot.
The Space Marines, being self-righteous arses, want to stop them.
The Tau want to take over the planet so they can watch the pretty warp storm in peace and learn about the Warp.
The Eldar have managed to jam open their Webway Portal to Medusa V and don't really want a load of Warp-related nastiness spilling into their Webway.
The Necrons want to take over the planet before the storm hits so they can eat the population while no-one's looking.
The Tyranids want to eat it whether anyone's looking or not. That and reabsorb some fancy new breed of Lictor into their Hive Mind.
The Dark Eldar want to enslave everyone coz their leader's got a serious chip on her shoulder.
The Orks crash-landed here by accident (stupid Mekboys...) and want to get the hell off the planet again before the storm hits.
The Imperial Guard want to hold on to the planet til the last possible moment coz its factories chuck out lots of lovely guns for them to kill things with.
