Deep within the airship, the two workers Neji and the Al'bed worked endlessly on the many engines, the entire ariship had been completely wrecked and it was clear that it was more than a two man job. "Now?!" The Al'bed yelled at Neji who was lay underneith the engine, tampering with the mechanics, "wait till i get out idiot!" Neji jumped out from under the engine and called to the Al'bed "Ok start it up!" The Al'bed the manual start up lever on the engine and they're delight it lit up with flickering red lights, and rumbled up and down smoothly, pressing out steam. "YES!" the Al'bed jumped up and down at sight of his success. "Now all thats left to do is fix the other five engines," Neji looked around in disappointment, "This is not gonna be an easy or quick job, not if its only the two of us,"
"tell me about it! cause after this we have to repair the navegation systems, the fuel burners, the stablizers, thrusters, all of the piloting controls, we're also gonna have to rebuild the interior to and make it more safe for the passengers and crew not to mention rebuild the ships defences and weapons and thats only scratching the surface!" Neji looked querryly at the Al'bed who said all of that quite cheerfully.
"were's the rest of the crew?" Neji asked
"dead, those mean people killed them, i only survived because i Hid, i'm a good hider." Neji sighed,
"damn then we have no extra help,"
"by the way, how does a Yevoner know so much about Al'bed technology? and to be able to keep up with me in repairing?" The Al'bed asked
"I used to part of pirate crew, they're were many skilled Al'bed and yevon Mechanics there, i learned much from them on Machina also this technology is very similar to that of what was the ship, the engines are pretty much exactly the same,"
"Where you'r crew now?"
"I left the fight in operation Mi'hen, they must of thought i died and carried on without me,"
"Shame we could use a crew for the ship also those Mechanics would be useful,"
"THATS IT!" Neji yelled
"thats what?"
"I'm gonna get us a crew," the Al'bed looked on blankly
"Just hang tight till I come back," Neji ran out the room and immediatly told the others where he was going, Melina insited on coming with him but Neji soon reminder her on the baby and she gurdgely stayed behind.
"Don't worry I'll be back soon," With those words Neji summoned the power of Diablos and spread his wings, it wasn't long until he was way off into the distance heading towards the sea.
After Awhile of endless searching Neji soon came across the ship, floating effortlessly in the endless blue just as Neji had remembered it. Immediatly he swooped down and landed on the deck.
He breathed in the sea air and felt at home, but he wasn't greated nicely, "ITS A FIEND!" Neji heard a familar voice come from behind him, and soon to tough looking Ronso's charged at with spears pointing forward, Neji raised his hands and stopped the two spears coming towards him, "easy guys its me," the black markings faded and Neji's wings retracted and the two Ronso's looked on in both shock and delight, "Neji!" One yelled in astonishment. (occ i'm gonna use some classic FF names here for some of the crew)
"Barret, Guy good to see you," the two placed huge hairy hands on Neji's shoulders greeting him. (crap names for Ronso's i know)
"Neji! you've returned a welcome sight indeed my friend," An Al'bed come walking out of the ships interior with two more Al'bed behind him.
"Kain it's good to see you, and you to Cecil and Galuf, you'r high team of Mechanics still up to scratch?"
"Ofcourse they are," he said jokenly "but i'm more worried about my guns how are they?"
"Oh those things I've replaced them, with these," Neji brought out Loki and Hades, Kain's eye lit up after seeing such masterful craftmenship he grapped the guns and immediatly began tampering with them.
"You have alot of nerve Neji!" the great big demanding voice called out from behind Kain and the other Al'bed. Neji pushed them aside and their he was the captain, "Captain Cid!" dressed in high quality armor and weilding weapons of Gold Captain Cid stepped out from the Interior of the ship and approached Neji, behind him were a Guado and two humans. The Guado was small and nippy and with a great big cheeky smile on his face while the one of the humans stood at the left of Cid weilding a mighty looking sword, the other human was the man who taught Neji magic, he stood dressed in fancy jewled robed. The Guado ran up to Neji and started jumping around in excitment "Oh boy you came back, this is gonna be great the crew is back together, things will be back to the way they were!" Neji put his hand on the young Guado's head
"easy Gau, i'm here on other reasons," Cid approached Neji, he examed him closely.
"where's silver wolf?"
"Me and Silver wolf are no longer one, i Know have Set," Neji held out Set for all to see more clearly most of the crew gaped at the masterful sword but Cid and the other two humans were not as impressed. The human with the sword stepped forward.
"I shall test this sword to see if it is worthy," he reached out for the sword but Neji pulled it away.
"No way Seifer, this sword can only be weilded by me, if an unworthy user were to handle it, it will turn on you,"
"UNWORTHY!, give me the sword now!" Seifer shouted, Neji shrugged his shoulders and handed him the sword and as expected it turned against Seifer and tried to kill him, he begged for help and eventually Neji eased away the sword leaving Seifer's pride shattered.
"That sword as dark elements to it, but i'm more concerned about you'r magic Neji,"
"I have mastered the forbidden arts of the Demon world, so you need not worry my magic is up to scratch, Kuja," Kuja raised his eyebrow
"Forbinned arts!?"
"I can tell from you'r new powers and ability's Neji that you have alot to explain since you left us," Cid interupted
"Indeed,"
Cid led Neji into the hull of the ship and to the captains quaters, they're they sat at a worthy table and drank to hold times. Cid was a fine man, he was a extremely good captain knowing when to be strict and when to ease off, he and Neji share the same beliefs and thats what makes them so good together, he was an extremely skilled warrior and incrediblely strong, he was feared for his prowes through-out the sea. Neji soon told the tales of his adventures and his destiny and indeed it raised the eyebrow of Cid.
"So what you want is that I move my men from the sea to the air on the airship you've just claimed?"
"Yes thats exactly it, it's in really bad shape and me need more man power to fix it and we need a good crew and I can't think of a better one than you'r crew,"
"You will also need a good captain, very well, I already rule the sea, it's about time I rule the sky to,"
"Wrong, I will be the Captain that ship,"
"well then Neji, if you want to become Captain then you know the rules, you must best me in combat,"
"I'd rather not fight you, you may get hurt," This angered Cid greatly and he picked up his sword and stormed out the room shouting, "meet me on deck! we shall see who gets hurt,"
On deck the two men swords drawn store eachother down, the angry captain charged at Neji swing his sword skillfully, but every strike Neji blocked easyily, the two locked for second.
"My new powers are well above yours Cid, please give up,"
Even angryier Cid slashed quickly but still failed to even scratch Neji. Neji pushed him back and called upon Diablos.
"rite Diablos, I'm gonna need some power, i'm gonna need just enough to finsh this, but not finish him ok?"
The power soared through Neji, but the markings only covered half his body, and the black aura wasn't as big as normal, the entire crew were shocked at this power and all stepped well back from Neji and the fight. Cid charged but Neji parryed the attack leaving Cid off balance, and then with one mighty swing shattered Cid's golden sword, and pressed his sword lightly on the beaten Cid.
A smile crepped onto Cid's face, "Well done my boy! I am beaten," Cid stepped back to rejoin the crew. "The crew is you'rs my lad, lead us well and don't go getting us killed," Cid said jokenly.
Neji looked over his new crew, "We are heading towards the Calm Lands, Barret steer the ship! Kain start up the engines, Gau be on look out, Cid navegation, everyone else, you know you'r jobs!"
"CAPTAIN!" The entire crew shouted.
"Cecil, Galuf get the mechanic prepared for taking apart the ship, we are gonna have to use the ship parts to power the Airship,"
"You mean?" Cecil asked
"Yes," Neji headed towards the front of the ship, he stood proud foot on the edge, overlooking the sparkling sea infront of him as the mighty Mechanical ship powered through the waves.
“Could you give me a hand with this engine, it won’t start.”
“Sure, what do you need me to do?” she asked but instantly regretted it as Zell went into a long explanation of what she had to do. “You know what I have a better idea, you said it just won’t start right?”
“Yeah.” he responded from one of the consoles, Fariel nodding and going beside it.
“Try again.” she said, Zell pressing some buttons and the engine started to turn on but went into a low diminishing hum as it started to turn off again.
Fariel spun around and threw her leg into it making it shake and rumble again as it started up, Zell standing slightly dumbstruck. “I thought we were trying to fix it not trash it.”
“Hey it worked didn’t it.”
“That’s not the point, so some more modifications, none that will need your violent input, and that one should work aright.”
“There’s nothing out there that can’t be solved through a little violence.” she said with a wink and left the engineer crawling under the engine.
oo0oo
“Hey Fariel, think you can get your chocobo to help out?” Kobie asked as Fariel appeared on the bridge.
“Doing what?”
“Carrying materials and stuff, it would help a lot.”
“Yeah sure I’ll go find him.”
oo0oo
“Hey feather butt.” she said patting the giant bird on the neck. “You think you could go to that giant rust bucket and help my friends out?” she asked, the bird kweh’n and running off to the airship. “Oh hey Chocobo you wanna help out?” she yelled at another large bird that walked by.
oo0oo
“Fariel we only needed the one.” Kobie said looking at the three chocobos flanking her.
“Yeah they can help until Neji get’s back.”
“Wait get’s back?”
“Yeah Zell said he went to get his old pirate crew to help fix this death trap and pilot it.”
“Um right ok, Zell?”
“The Al’bed.”
“Oh alright. Well um take your birds to Zell to get some poles or something, we need to get this airship off it’s face so we can put it back together.”
“Sure thing. Let’s go guy’s”
(occ – BOREDOM, and yay holidays XD LOL lots of boredom XD LOL Now I have a little team of chocobos, all I need now is the warrior moogles from 4 and I’ll rule the world ;) lol)
Sonya stood in front of the airship with her arms up, her hand movements guiding the slabs of rock she was summoning from the ground with the elven rock spell.
“Steady!” Melina warned.
Sonya nodded, frowning in concentration as she shaped the rock, using Bisingr fire to heat the rocks until they were half-molten, teasing them slowly and carefully into long cylinders with her magical control, then eroding the edges smooth with wind and water - her elemental magic accomplishing in seconds what would have taken nature millennia. Eventually she had a number of smooth stone pillars which she slid into place beneath the airship using carefully-controlled Aeros, while Melina summoned Bahamut, Valefor and Ifrit to lift it gently out of the crash-site. When Sonya had driven the end of the last pillar securely into the ground, the end result was unusual but effective scaffolding to support the airship while they made repairs.
Kobie was congratulating the two, who were smiling modestly while Zell just gaped, when Fariel came riding up on Ferin.
“I don’t know where we’re going to get wood for scaffolding,” she said, “This place is just miles of open grassland, so…oh…” she had just looked up and seen the stone framework around the airship, “Yeah…er…never mind then…”
She jumped off Ferin’s back, still trying to get her head round what she was seeing.
“Come on, guys,” Zell said, “If you don’t mind I need your help fixing the engines - two down, four to go.”
“Just kick it!” Fariel shouted after them.
* * *
Kobie carefully put the sheets of metal cowling back onto the two engines they’d just repaired.
“Give it a try now, Zell,” he shouted across the deck, which was now strewn with tools and as many working components as they had been able to salvage from damaged equipment.
Zell obediently pressed two buttons on his console. One engine coughed into life before settling down to a regular hum. One of the pipes in the other burst, blowing the cowling clean off.
Kobie swore loudly and jumped back as scalding steam vented from the ruptured pipe.
“Turn it off!”
The engines fell silent and the steam dissipated.
“Looks like it needs some more work,” Zell said mildly, and he and Kobie bent over the broken engine while Sonya welded the cowling back onto the working one using Fira.
Suddenly there was a commotion outside. They grabbed their weapons and stumbled towards the cabin door, fearing the worst. They were expecting to see Crusaders coming to investigate the crash, or perhaps Seymour and his Guado soldiers had caught up with them, or maybe Selina, the last remaining assassin, was back…
None of the scenarios they imagined were pleasant, but what they actually saw coming across the Calm Lands towards them was something none of them were prepared for.
They stared.
<ooc - cue Neji returns>

Neji walked casually across the calm lands followed by his crew, they carryied with them many supplies from the now dismantled ship, the other angels rushed out the ship wondering and fearing what was coming towards them even Tanis woke up from his nap to check it out but immdiatly went back to sleep upon relising it was Neji. The other Angels had no idea and all readied their weapons, Sonya used her farsight and giving a sigh of relief shouted to the other Angels, "It's Neji! lower you'r weapons," everyone took a deep breath and put their weapons. It wasnt long until Neji and his crew arrived at the ship and were greated by the Angels, after some introductions Neji barked out at the crew.
"Right! Everyone get to work, i want this ship up and running by tomoro morning, no later!"
The crew saulted Neji shouting "Aye Aye Captain!"
The eager crew rushed into the airship and it wasn't long until all that could be heard around the farplain was the noise of many eager men working their heart out.
It took no time at all for the airship to be repaired, with Melina and Sonya helping put the exterior back together, and Kobie wit Zell fixing up the engines with the help of Neji’s mechanics all that was left was the rest of the interior which the rest of Neji’s crew didn’t slow down the progress on. Fariel was on the bridge with a few of the other’s, Neji was barking order’s while helping on the console.
“Hey kid, we could use you over here.” One of the men yelled at her. a slight grin or irritation appeared on her face but she went up to the front console were one of the men was holding a large bit of metal to the open side. “Fira this thing on would ya?”
Fariel rolled her eyes but complied, they would have asked Sonya but she was working outside. They all jumped to their feet as they heard an explosion but Neji was already gone to find out what it was, and came back a minute later laughing.
“They’ve blown another bloody Engine, someone go and help them.”
The man who was holding the metal plate in place got up and left, she grabbed it quickly as it came off and quickly melded it back on. “Kid my arse; we’ll see who’s the kid when I kick you in.”
“I wouldn’t advise kicking in my men Fariel, you might not live.” Neji commented from behind her making her grin innocently.
“This console’s done.” she said briskly changing the subject.
“Good, I’m sure you’ll find something else to do that doesn’t involve hurting yourself so I’ll leave you alone.” he grinned before walking off. “Kid.”
“Shut up!” she yelled as he left and Kobie walked in. “Oh hey, Neji said you exploded again.”
“I exploded?”
“You know what I meant. There’s a shop, weirdly enough, out in the calm lands, I’m gonna go get some blades and things, I’m running out of knives. You need anything?”
“Fariel you carry more blades then everyone here put together. And no I don’t need anything.”
“Yes but you can never have to many blades. If someone tries to disarm ya, ya know fine well that they haven’t got them all.”
“Yeah, alright. You go get your silly blades. There’s nothing much left to do anyway.” He said looking around but when he looked back she was already gone making him smile.
oo0oo
Sneaking up behind the shop with the lone Al’bed manning it who was sitting watching the construction of the airship, not paying much attention t anything else at all, she scurried under the cloth covering some boxes and prying on open she found an array of weapons, she wasn’t at all interested in the swords or other things but she soon found a full throwing knife clip and attached it to her belt before scurrying away again. “That guy pays less attention to what’s going on around him then Seymour.” she s****ed before making her way back to the airship.
oo0oo
“Hey guys.” she yelled to Sonya, Kobie and Melina who were standing idly looking at the ship.
“Welcome back, you find what you were looking for?”
“Aye, that Al’bed is watching us build this thing quite intently.”
“What did you steal?”
”Throwing knives.”
“That’s it?”
“I don’t really need swords or anything thank you.”
“Fair enough. We’ve finished the shell; it’s just the inside that needs finishing, hopefully without anymore engines blowing up.” Sonya sarcastically commented looking in Kobie’s general direction.
“It wasn’t my fault!” he yelled defensively.
"C'mon, let's go inside." Sonya added, the three women walking off Leaving Kobie standing there.
"Well it wasn't! Hey!" he yelled running after them
(hahahahahaha isn't it fun, just blame everything on Fenix :p lol)
“Right, I think that’s about it,” Zell said at last as all the icons on his master console lit up a reassuring green. Lights flickered into life throughout the airship and a low throbbing sound indicated the engines running smoothly.
“I still can’t believe we managed this all in just two days,” Fariel remarked from where she stood by the bridge window.
“You’d never met my crew before,” Neji said with a smile.
“Right captain,” Cid said to Neji as he strode across the bridge, seeming to bear no ill-will towards his usurper, “Shall we get started?”
Neji’s bridge crew took their stations around the airship’s command deck.
“This is easy,” Barret commented in his deep Ronso voice as he took hold of the wheel, “No different from on our old ship.”
“Come on, baby…” Zell whispered to himself as he brought the engines to full power and set the rotors whirring, then aloud, “Sonya, Melina, if you please?”
The two mages nodded and with a volley of Thundaras the stone scaffolding around the airship shattered and fell away.
“We have full power,” Zell reported.
Fariel was laughing in excitement as the airship’s deck began to vibrate harder, Kobie had gripped a bulkhead with one hand to steady himself and Neji, used to the pitch and roll of a ship in high seas, just stood in the centre of the bridge keeping his balance with apparent ease. He picked up the strange machina intercom Zell had handed him.
“Steering?” Neji asked authoritatively, and no-one begrudged him giving orders this time as it was after all his crew manning the airship.
“Check.” Barret reported from beside the wheel as he tested the airship’s rudder.
“Engines?”
“Check.” Kain said over the intercom from down in the engine room.
“Sighting report?”
“All clear, captain.” Gau called.
“Navigation?”
“Online.” Cid said as he danced his practiced Al’bed hands over the baffling array of machina icons, screens and switches.
“Lunch?” Fariel piped up from the back.
Tanis pretended to check the pockets of his Ninjitsu robes.
“Jam sandwiches.” he said, returning the joke. The others just stared at him.
With a thunderous roar, the airship rose into the air.
“This is it,” Sonya said to Kobie, and he squeezed her hand reassuringly. The last stage of their journey, and their final battle, were beckoning.
“Sin and Yevon. The lie ends here.” Neji muttered to himself, too low even for Melina, who was standing next to him holding on to his arm for balance, to hear.
“Hmm, air - not exactly your element, is it Leviathan?” Fariel whispered. She was sure she heard a watery laugh, like the chuckle of a fast-flowing stream, echo in her head.
Tanis stood silently to one side.
Here we go, the half-elf thought, if Selina was right then it’s just two weeks until we confront Sin.
And then, for better or for worse, the fate of Spira will be decided.
<ooc - let's get this show on the road, people! >

(but first we still got 2 weeks lets go for a joy ride!)
Neji walked to the center of the bridge, his entire crew busy at work just as he ordered. He stood there arms folding in a dominating stance with Melina at his side, together they looked out the main window as the airship powered through the clouds and soared beautifully through the sky smooth and gentle. Pleased with the performance he approached Zell who was left incharge of the Navigations.
"Zell, run a search, I want to see if Sin has made an appearance at all lately,"
Zell got straight to work, flicking the many switches and scanning the great big mechanical map of Spira in front of him, it wasn't long until the search was completeled and Zell returned the results within minutes of begining the search.
"No captain, Sin has been well behaved lately,"
"hmmm it'll be impossible to find Sin if we search the entire oceans around Spira, he moves to fast and the oceans are to big, besides underwater Sin would have the major advantage against us, we'll have to wait until he emerges, but who knows when that'll happen,"
Neji stood deep in thought for sometime until Melina approached him, he turned to her with a smile and then approached the intercom.
"Kobie, Fariel, Tanis, Sonya, report to the bridge,"
The angels where scattered all over the ship each killing time in there own way and it took a good 5 - 10 minutes for them all to gather.
"follow me please," Neji asked. He led them all out of the bridge and down the corridors of the airships until they reached a great double door, Neji pushed open the doors with ease and walked in moving to the side so the Angels could see what was in the door. It was nothing really special the room looked homely, in it was a big round table with 7 chairs surronding it, and at the farest end of the room was a great Mechaincal Map of spira with many buttons and markings, also on it was a little shape of the airship which seemed to represent where they were at the moments.
"This will be the meeting room, only the Angels, Melina and Cid are aloud to enter, this is where we will discuss plans, go over briefing, so take a seat all,"
The Angels sat down around the table and Neji walked up to the map.
"As we speak Zell is searching on Spira on Sin's whereabouts, so far we have had no luck it appears Sin is snug under the ocean and to engage him there would be foolish, besides he moves to fast underwater for us to catching so tracking him is immpossible also he as a too great of an advantage underwater, so until Sin emerges from the ocean we seem to have time to kill and im not the type of guy to sit around and do nothing, so anyone have any suggestions? any unfinished business, anywhere they would like to go or anyone they would like to see?"
I.C- Tanis stood up and walked to the 3-d map hovering over the table. He tapped in a few coordinates and watched as a new picture appered.
"We go here" Tanis stated
Neji looked at tanis in a funny way..."Tanis that is an empty desert..why would we go there?"
"Another piece of elven lore. In that desert is a temple. Its under the sand but it IS there. I have been before but couldent reach the end myself. Now i know why."
"Tanis stop speaking like that and tell us your plan!" Kobie exclaimed.
"The old story says that in this temple, resides weapons. Weapons for the angels in there time of need. And now that were all together i plan on taking us there and retrieving these weapons. I already have it maped out in my head. It will take a day to get there. That will give us six days...eight at most to get in, get the weapons, and get back out. Then we have a few days to train with our new weapons."
"Why the traning Tanis? I can kick anyones butt without traning!" Injected Fariel."
"Because Fariel. These weapons are no ordinary weapons. They were created by the greatest elven smiths alive. They have the magic of the elves imbued in them. Pure, elven magic. We will need the time to become familiar with our weapons...although i will loath to discard my katana..."
The angels looked at each other pondering Tanis's proposal. After a suitable amout of time had elapsed Tanis spoke up:
Fariel had been lying in her bunk for what felt like ages, unable to sleep. On the wall, a Machina clock ticked the minutes slowly by. Restlessly, she climbed out of bed and stood up with the vague idea of making herself useful somewhere on the airship. She made her way to the bridge through a narrow corridor lit by dim lights. She slid the door aside and saw to her surprise that the bridge was deserted. Outside the windows clouds drifted lazily across a starry sky, while the unmanned wheel drifted slowly from side to side as the wind outside tugged at the rudder. That was odd, there should be somebody here…
The sound of the door sliding shut behind her made her turn.
“Hello, Fari,” a familiar voice sneered. <ooc - I changed it to Fari because Far seems okay written down but sounds weird if you actually try and say it. If it bothers you As, sue me>
Kerr was leaning against the door he had just closed, his torn clothes stained with blood and a mad light in his eyes as he stalked forward. In his right hand was a short sword that glittered in the moonlight. Fariel clawed at her waist, before realising with horror that she had left her knife belt in her cabin.
“But…no…” she stammered as she backed up against a console, glancing desperately from left to right for a way out as Kerr advanced, “You’re dead!”
“You didn’t think I’d let the Farplane take me when we still have unfinished business, did you?” Kerr said in mock-bewilderment. He raised the short-sword.
“Say goodbye, Fari.”
“No! Please, no…!” Fariel screamed, but it was too late - she watched with horror as the sword slashed down and she…
Woke up screaming, her blanket drenched with sweat. She moaned weakly and collapsed backwards, rubbing her eyes.
“Fariel?” a voice came from the door. Fariel’s eyes snapped open, her heart pounding, but it was only Sonya.
“Fariel?” she said again, “Are you awake?”
“No,” Fariel said matter-of-factly as she turned towards Sonya, “I’m sleep-talking.”
Sonya smiled at that as Kobie appeared at the door, tired-looking and unshaven.
“Did someone scream?” he asked blearily.
“Just a nightmare,” Fariel said weakly, standing up and looking at the clock which read ten to six. Not much point going back to sleep now. Sonya nodded sympathetically. It didn’t surprise her after all they’d been through.
“What’s going on? Pyjama party?” Melina said with a grin as she appeared in the corridor. It was then that Neji’s voice crackled over the intercom.
“Melina, Sonya, Fariel and Kobie, could you join me on the bridge please?”
They went back to their respective rooms to dress quickly, and filed down the narrow corridor that led to the airship’s bridge.
Neji stood next to the master console with his hands resting on the smooth metal, Tanis at his side. The rest of the bridge crew had changed shifts - Guy had taken his fellow Ronso Barret’s place at the steering wheel, and Zell had replaced Cid at navigation - but ever since he had been back in command of a ship Neji himself had seemed inexhaustible. Outside the window the early-morning light revealed shifting desert sands as far as the eye could see, but dead ahead of them and not far away a great rune-inscribed pillar jutted upwards from the dunes that had half-buried it.
“Is this it?” Neji asked, looking at Tanis.
“This is the place,” Tanis confirmed with a satisfied smile.

They all one by one descended from the airship and shielded their eyes from the sun as they lined up in the sand; there was a light wind, small whirlwinds of sand spun past their feet as they advanced on the strange pillar. When they got closer they realised that it have five sides. Fariel being curious stepped up to it and walked around it in circles.
“Yup it’s a pillar, any ideas?”
“These symbols are of the different elements, Fariel stand here.” Sonya spoke pointing just in front of her, before moving around to the next side. “Neji here, Kobie there, Tanis there and me here.” she said finally stopping next to Fariel on the other side.
They all stood where they were told and looked at Sonya expectantly, Melina standing with Neji who had an arm around her protectively. “Well what do we do now?” Fariel asked reaching out and touching it.
“Fariel!” Sonya yelped as Fariel disappeared.
“Well we should have seen that coming…” Kobie grinned, reaching out and touching the pillar he too disappeared.
“Well I guess it’s my turn.” Sonya said disappearing as she touched it.
Tanis and Neji looked at each other and then at the pillar, both reaching out and touching it, Neji holding Melina close and the three of them disappeared.
“Well I guess we’re not going anywhere for a while then.” Cid commenting watching as the last three disappeared right from in front of their noses.
oo0oo
“Well this is different.” Fariel stated flatly looking around, the ground was covered in shifting low lying fog that came up to her knees, it was dark and she couldn’t see a thing more then 2 feet in front of her. Drawing her swords she held them ready and started to walk around.
“Well this is, strange? Fariel are you here?” Kobie asked but he didn’t get a reply. “Fariel?” he asked again, her name echoing back to him.
“Kobie?” Sonya asked looking around as she heard him yelling.
“Sonya I’m over here.” he said, he could see the faint outline of her as she stepped closer.
”That’s the last time I ever touch funny looking pillars.” Neji complained looking around, Melina still under his arm.
“Likewise.” Tanis added.
“Hey guys.” Kobie waved, until he realised no one could see him.
“Is everyone here?” Tanis asked.
“Take a guess at who’s missing.” Kobie smiled.
“I’m here, jeez.” Fariel moaned prodding him in the arm. “I just went to look around.”
“And?”
“Well ya just keep walking, I didn’t find any walls.” she complained until there was a bright flash of light.
(occ – alright, there we go. we’re gonna play with some bad guys and stuff now right. Someone can post that :p I was just bored and no one was posting so here.)
As Tanis's vision refocused he could see barely anything. The room was shrouded in a thick veil of smoke.
"Hmmm...that was way to easy...i would have expected-"
A thump...followed by another. Tanis reached out with his mind and felt a horrible huge power coming from somewhere close up.
"Oh great...just what i need..."
Tanis looked at the huge blach shape that loomed before him...
A dragon.
Tanis had about a second to register what he was seieng before the dragon let loose a giant ball of flame from its massive jaws.
Tanis dived, worried about what had happened to the others and aware that -as hard as he tried- the fireball still managed to dust past him, setting his robe top on fire. He cast a waterga onto himself to dousedthe flames. He shed his top as it was too burned to salvage.
"Is everyone ok!" Tanis heared Sonea cry
"Yes i'm fine!" shouted back Tanis. Tanis felt relieved when he knew he wasn't alone. Even more when the rest of the angels followed suit.
"What was that thing!?" screamed Fariel.
"A dragon!" replyed Tanis. He heard audible gasps coming from the angels.
"Guys you gotta get outta here! i'll keep this thing from you! just run! wee'l worry about meeting later...run!"
Without waiting for a reply Tanis cast a Bisinger and Firannon at the dragon, one spell from each hand. It had the desired effect. The dragon roared in outrage and turned to dispose of Tanis. But he was already running. The giant, powerful, black dragon hot on his heels.
"Goddamn it...why do i always get myself into these situations!"
<ooc - okay, here goes - I’m trying to make the temple seem tailor-made for the Angels so only they can get through it, otherwise any random sod could get in and steal the elven artefacts. Maybe there’ll be a bit at the end that they have to do together, but I don’t know what that might be so I‘ll just write Kobie and Sonya’s exploits for the moment>
The Angels scattered, heading for the many side-tunnels leading off from the main chamber which they hadn’t noticed before in the darkness. Kobie grabbed Sonya’s arm and dragged her towards one which he reckoned the dragon would be too small to enter. The chamber was huge and it was a long way to run in the open, but Tanis seemed to have the dragon distracted for the moment. He was backing away from it, casting volleys of fireballs as he did so and being careful to stay out of reach of the monster’s raking claws.
Kobie and Sonya dived into the side tunnel. As they ran through the downward-sloping stone corridor, they heard a bestial roar that shook the tunnel coming from behind them and Kobie turned, expecting to see a jet of flame leaping down the tunnel towards them, but there was no pursuit so he ran on.
They skidded to a halt when the tunnel abruptly ended in a circular room, lit by blue torches held by statues of armoured warriors lining the walls. The flickering light illuminated a pedestal in the centre of the room, which they approached cautiously. The pedestal was criss-crossed with interconnecting lines and runes, and there were two depressions in the stone at the front that looked as though they were meant to fit the shape of a human hand. Kobie looked at them, then at his own hands, but the depressions seemed to be designed for two right hands. He looked around the room warily, as Sonya traced the flowing script of the elvish runes.
“Evil by one hand, protection by two,” she translated, “I wonder what that means?”
Kobie passed his hands over the pedestal experimentally, being careful not to touch the stone, but suddenly there was a violent crash from somewhere above them and as they both started despite themselves, Kobie’s hand accidentally brushed the depression. Immediately it began to glow red, and Kobie jerked his hand away but the light did not dim. A blast of wind whistled overhead, and the two Angels thought they heard the whispering of sinister voices mixed in with the roar. Suddenly there was an ominous sound, like stone grinding against stone, behind them. They turned and saw that one of the blue torches had clattered to the floor. Impossibly, the statue that had held it was detaching itself from the wall in an explosion of dust. It raised its hands and fire flickered into life in its fists, blazing in the shape of two curved scimitars.
Kobie unsheathed his Dragon Claws and leapt forward to put himself between the statue and Sonya, but it threw him aside with one sweep of its fiery swords, leaving him burnt and bloodied on the ground at Sonya’s feet. With a cry Sonya put her hand on his chest, casting a healing spell, and helped him to his feet. The statue advanced towards them, its movements slow and purposeful. Sonya sent a barrage of Firannon lightning hurtling towards it, but it merely coruscated harmlessly over the statue and flickered out. The two Angels backed up against the pillar, thinking fast.
Protection by two…
“Put your hand on the pedestal again!” Sonya shouted, “Together - one…two…three!”
Simultaneously they pressed their right hands into the two depressions, and white light snaked across the stone, running like quicksilver along the criss-crossing channels and lighting up the runes. Suddenly they both yelped and drew back as a burning pain shot through their hands. Looking down, Kobie saw a rune made of light glowing on his right palm, and a similar glyph on Sonya’s. They looked up, expecting the statue to stop.
But it didn’t.
It continued to advance with swords raised, and now with a loud grinding crack more of the statues were breaking free of the wall, fiery swords casting flickering shadows across their expressionless stone faces. Soon they were surrounded - one of the statues hammered Kobie to the ground as another knocked Sonya’s staff out of her hands as she attempted to charge up a Bisingr. She drew her dagger but it just glanced off the statue’s marble skin and the statue smashed her to the floor. As it towered above her, blazing scimitar raised, she raised her arm towards it in an instinctive and futile defence.
There was a long pause. Slowly, Sonya opened her eyes and saw that the statue had frozen with its marble face turned towards the fiery rune on her palm. As one, the statues lowered their weapons and stepped back, while Sonya and Kobie climbed to their feet warily. Most of the statues returned to their places in the walls, swords of fire flickering out and blue torches springing back into life, looking as if they had never moved. Two of them however strode towards opposite sides of the chamber and swept their scimitars across the flat stone wall. The smooth rock seemed to melt away to reveal two dark passageways leading deeper into the temple. The statues stood aside as if inviting the Angels to enter.
“What now?” Sonya asked anxiously.
“Let’s go this way,” Kobie said, picking the tunnel on their left at random. The statue guarding it stood unmoving as Kobie stepped through the arch, but as Sonya tried to follow him it sprang forward to bar her path, its swords crossed in front of it. Sonya leapt back in alarm but the statue did not attack, but it didn’t move out of her way either.
“Hey!” Kobie shouted and tried to push past the statue to get back into the main chamber, but it blocked his way. Then Sonya noticed the symbol carved on the statue’s chest, which resembled an old man holding a staff.
“Ramuh…” she said to herself quietly, suddenly understanding why there were two passageways, then aloud, “I think you’re going to have to do this on your own, Feyd.”
Kobie nodded and reached past the statue to briefly place his hand over Sonya’s, then disappeared into the dark. The statue turned and waved its swords again, and the archway disappeared to again leave just a blank stone wall. The statue returned to its place in the wall, its swords flickering out to be replaced by torches, and remained motionless.
Sonya walked across the chamber to the other archway. As she had guessed, the statue guarding it had a carving of Tritoch on its chest and made no move to stop her as she stepped through the arch. Once she was through the statue swept its swords round and down just as the other had done, resealing the entrance and leaving Sonya in a dark corridor with a blank wall to her back as if the archway had never existed. She looked down at her hand, but the glowing rune that the pedestal had burned onto her palm had disappeared without a trace, leaving no mark on her skin.
She channelled an illumination spell into her staff, and it glowed to light her way as she proceeded cautiously down the tunnel.
<There you go - if you want to use this room feel free. Other ways in and out might exist that weren’t shown to Sonya and Kobie, and maybe the pedestal will magically disappear and be replaced with something specific to the next Angel that reaches it. I’ll post what happens to Sonya and Kobie next later - Kobie’s going to fight himself (wait and see!) and Sonya’s going to take on an elemental demon that only Tritoch can defeat>

Captain Thule: We have yet to meet our betters, alien. All we have seen are deluded tyrants, heretics and alien scum. Farseer Taldeer: You should have looked beyond your mirror then.
Holding Melina's hand tight Neji dragged her along as they fled from the Dragon, he led her down the twisting tunnels of the temple until finally they came across a great room lit only by the faint lights of dying torches which spread along its walls. They stopped so Melina could her breath Neji ever on guard staring down the tunnel they just came hoping that the mighty dragon did not follow, he stood for what seemed like forever gazing nervously down the tunnel pistol drawn and fingers on the trigger. The dragon did not come and he let sigh then withdrew his pistols.
Neji turned to Melina but as he turned he heard footsteps coming down the tunnel and heading towards them, Neji peared deep into the darkness, long he stood their, wandering, fearing, douting (Edgar Allen Poh with a few adjustments to suit the story), the footsteps echo for sometime but they gratually got closer and closer, Melina clung onto Neji whispering in his ear.
"Neji? whats going on, who is it?"
"I don't know,"
"It could be one of our friends,"
"I dout it," Neji sighed, Melina looked on confused "listen to the footsteps,"
Melina concentrated hard on the footsteps, opening her ears and as she did she could hear the sound of clattering steel with everystep, whoever was walking towards them wore armor, heavy armor.
"Melina, get to the back of the room,"
"what? no!"
"do it now! I have to protect you and the baby," Neji ordered.
Reluctantly Melina retreated to the back of the room and Neji drew his pistols once again. Finally a daunting figure began to merge in the darkness, Neji stood unmoving from a striking position sweat dripping from his brow
"Show yourself!" Neji shouted into the darkness. And then to Neji's surprise a familiar figure walked into the light of the room, standing 2 feet taller than Neji, dressed in great metal armor and wearing a nobel helmet carring two massive Halberds, Raiga walked into the room immediatly Neji withdrew his pistols.
"Ra...Raiga?" Neji asked supiously
"RAIGA!!" Melina cried in sheer delight from the back of the room, she ran forward arms held out wide towards Raiga, but using the blunt end of one of his Halberds he stuck Melina down with an angered look on his face, Melina looked up at Raiga tears pouring from eyes in horror of what her loving brother just did to her.
"foolish sister, look at you, you'r pathetic! and look who've you've fallen in love with, a devil!"
crying heavily Melina whimpered "Ra..Raiga? what is wrong with you?"
Raiga ignored Melina and turned his attention to Neji.
"Neji! look what you've become! I heared the storys of those you've killed without mercy! earning yourself the name Baby Devil, and whats worse you've gone and sold you'r soul to the late king of devils!"
Neji looked on a deadly serious look on his face eyes fixed on Raiga.
"whats wrong, losing you'r focus? you angry that I hurt you'r Melina? you want me to do it again!" Raiga raised his spear to hit Melina, but she scurryed off and hid herself behind Neji, she couldnt bear to see her loved brother like that, he had never hurt her before.
Raiga angered flung up his Halberd up then launched it at Melina who was kneling down next to Neji, unable to anything she closed her eyes in fear but suddenly the spear stopped in its tracks, Neji stood their hand out clutching the Halberd in the middle. Raiga looked on amazed.
"You caught my Halberd in midflight?" Neji still not saying anything and with the same deadly serious look on his face threw the Halberd down at Raiga feet.
"fool giving me back my weapon,"
"shut up and fight," Neji demanded quiet calmly.
Neji and Raiga clashed in the middle of the room sparks flying as steel met steel, they fought on equal grounds until Raiga started to lose his cool, his attacks became more violent, eventually Neji knocked one of his Halberds out of his hand and then getting into the inside of Raiga pointed the tip of his sword at his throat.
"who are you? show you'r true form!" Neji demanded, Melina looking on in confusion.
"What are you talking about?"
"I know you'r not Raiga, you'r only immetaiting him so I would lose my focus and you can get any easy victory,"
"And what makes you think that?"
"Raiga would never hurt his sister, never mind try and kill her, also Raiga died many months back in Guadosalam,"
"What i didnt read that!"
A smirk came on Neji's face "busted, thats cause I blocked you from reading that part of my mind,"
"You mean?" Raiga said in fear
"I spent many months living with elves, you know that, lets just say I taught myself to fend of them reading my mind, and I have a little inside help,"
"Diablos,"
"Now show you'r true form,"
Raiga smiled, "you may know that i'm not Raiga but i know you can't hurt you'r best friend,"
Neji smirked once again and lowered his weapon, the mysterious shapeshifter looked pleased until Neji planted a perfectly place punch on his face sending hom flying back.
"Wha...what, that was you'r best friend, and just punched him!?"
"You are you no matter who you may look like, so enough games show me you'r true form,"
It stood up "very well," slowly the creature formed back into its origanal form, it was hideaous, made from pure dark energy in physical form, one arm had claws for nails and the other was shaped like a sharp blade, it was skinny and looked crooked but Neji knew as soon as he lay eyes on its true form that it was far stronger than he had anticapated and he was in for a tough fight.
(ooc Neji's got a tough fight with this guy, and what do u guys think would be best a Machina arm or one the crew members arms who donate it to Neji, yes jst 2 ruin wot happens Neji's about to lose his arm in the fight, how he loses it u'll have 2 w8 and see, i was also thinking that one crew members gonna b coming into the temple aint saying who tho would that b alrite?)
Tanis sat down to asses the situation and try to remember whet happened with the dragon. EVentually he managed to piece it all together. After casting at the dragon Tanis turned and ran. But the dragon being so big had a hard time keeping up with an elf...especially because it had no room to use its wings. It had got him once though...once with the claws, nothing major, and then again with the fireball just before Tanis made it to safety. All in all he made it out with relatively little wounds. The slice would scar...but thats just another one to add to the collection.
"Well no reason to be staying here"
Tanis stood up and looking down the corridor - for the only other way was back to the dragon - felt the presence of another creature. Just as powerful as the dragon.
"Oh great...don't i always have the best times?"
Tanis paused - as if expecting an answer - but on hearing only silence began to walk.
Running as fast as she could from the dragon she risked a glace over her shoulder and ground to a halt, there was a stone work wall behind her, turning and running her hands along it she cursed, “Frakking farplane, where am I now?!” she growled but turned around and walked on anyway, “Guy’s? Can any of you hear me?” she yelled but she didn’t get a reply, “Typical, well at least I can still see were I’m going. What the frak is that?”
Ahead of her, further down the corridor, it expanded into a long, slightly wider square room, flaming torches in each corner keeping it lit, drawing her swords she edged wearily towards it, passing many statues in alcoves in the corridor walls. Reaching the end of the corridor she peered into the room, there was nothing special about it, the walls were very badly built, rocks jutting out all over the place, like a climbing wall…looking up she saw far up a white square, a door maybe? It couldn’t possibly be that easy.
The floor was mosaic like, rune symbols created in the patterns. But the middle and most of the floor was fairly simple with just a few black lines, walking out to the middle of the room she looked down, and then around the floor, it was a giant X, and she was standing at it’s centre, “Well frak.” she muttered again as the ground started to rumble.
Watching the walls she cocked an eyebrow as the some of the rocks rearranged themselves into what looked letters, walking over to it she identified it as Al’bed, luckily she had picked up a few things in Luca and from listening to Zell. “The first instinct of a thief to run.” she read, “What the heck is that supposed to mean, that I’m not supposed to run? Run from what? It’s an empty room. Leviathan I’m really getting quite annoyed. Leviathan are you listening o me?”
I am, but I am unsure.
“Well that’s great.” she complained as the ground started to rumble again, she cursed and launched onto the wall as the floor gave way, all the pieces splashing into the water that replaced it. “X marks the spot, no? I guess we’re going that way…heh, there’s no other way I suppose.”
Taking a deep breath and dived into the water and swam down, (occ-I’m totally going to rip off FFX here, but in my own special way. Not like we haven’t ripped it off already ;) lol) Looking around it was many times wider then the room she was just in, it was very deep as well, but there were machina torches in the walls at all sides, and there was a corridor at the far wall, the only one, typically enough, she begun to swim towards it but paused, the water felt different for a second, and turning around a string of curses ran through her head as the Georapella swam towards her. (anyone remember that? From the start of FFX with Tidus at the ruins? Hehehehe, fun times ;) lol)
It opened it’s giant mouth and swam towards her expecting her to be its next meal but he wasn’t going to get her, she swam as fast as she could for the narrow corridor but she stopped again as Leviathan commanded her.
The first instinct of a thief is to run…don’t run, we have to fight, that isn’t the exit!
What do you mean, fight that?!
Yes! Now move before it eats you and summon me!
Bloody hell!
Fariel narrowly missed being caught by the giant toothed mouth and was hit in the side by its head, spinning her off behind it. That didn’t hurt… she complained in her head and as the giant creature messed around she concentrated and threw out her arms, Come and save my ass again…Leviathan!
The ground far below her glowed for a moment and rippled as the head of the giant serpent appeared and swam upwards, coiling in the water around her, with a slight smile she drawing her wave swords, not that they would do much good but it was a start. The Georapella turned and looked at the pair, it may have been much bigger then Fariel but leviathan was bigger still.
The giant serpent swam forwards effortlessly, followed by Fariel. Leviathan sent small whirlpools flying towards it, confusing it, before it wrapped itself around the fiend and bite into it’s strange torso, Fariel came in and smugly slashed across its face but annoyingly enough it didn’t die, sneering she seconded the attack by stabbing it through the head, it burst into pyraflies and Fariel wanted to laugh but to do so she’d inhale a lung full of water. Leviathan swam over and going under Fariel moved up so that she could hold on after she sheathed her swords. The exit they had seen disappeared and a new one appeared on the other side.
Don’t say I told you so…
I wouldn’t dare
Leviathan swam quickly to the other side of the giant pool and the passage two narrow for him let Fariel off before disappearing back into the darkness of the pools floor. Swimming on her own through the corridor she looked for an exit, and was soon given one, a white square appeared ahead of her and thanking anyone she swam through it and then cursed as she then quickly fell through the air to the giant X below, hitting it heavily in the centre and cursing quicker then a wild fire spread.
Soaking wet she propped herself up and looked around, it was the same room, the wall was back to normal, the floor was back, obviously since she hit it, but the corridor with the statues was now on the wall where the Al’bed had appeared. Sighing she got up and cursed again, that fall hadn’t done anything but given her a fair amount of bruises, and being hit by the Georapella hadn’t helped much either. Limping off down the corridor she dreaded what she was going to be faced with next and hoped that it was just meeting up with the others.
(occ - fire demon, pfft, that was much more fun :p lol plus falling a few stories is always fun too ;) lol Ah well, i'm sure you'll make that cooler in your little novel Fenix, but iu'll make it cooler yet in my manga ;) hahaha)
Neji could feel the dark twisted power pouring out from the wicked creature, he looked deep in its grostesque eyes, it stood unmoving. Neji could feel it wandering in his mind once again but this time it was not in for information, Neji could feel a sharp pain in the back of his head and slowly it spread all through his head and became a sevear head ache, Neji gripped his head and feel to his knees in the pain, looking up at the creature he barked
"I know what you'r trying to do and it won't work, i'm not the only one inhabits this body,"
Deep in Neji's head the creature heard the sound of cage open with a great creek.
"Diablos kick it out!"
The gates suddenly swung open and Diablos burst out and looked blades with creature inside Neji's head. Meanwhile on the outside the black markings spread through Neji body and the dark energy swirled around him, he realeased a blast of dark energy which the creature nimbly dodged and charged at Neji, clashing its blades with Naji's blade.
The battle raged on and no matter what Neji tried he couldn't seem to land a hit on the creature but Neji however had taken a number of cuts from its many blades, but all was not as bad Diablos had succeeded on routing the creature inside his Neji's head and knocked him out while he was off balance. During the fight the creature revealed another one of its fightening abilitys, it could stretch its limps to attack Neji from some distance, the force in which its blade arm and nails was launched was enough to power straight through the walls.
Neji fought hard against the creature and with a mighty swing forced it to jump back some distance, it immediatly countered by launching its blade but swifty Neji side stepped it and charge at it from the inside of its arm, he thrusted foward but it raised its hands and by trapping his sword inbetween its nails it forced Neji's sword down towards the ground crashing in it the ground causing the ground to crack, using his free hand Neji drew one of his pistols and shot a hole straight through the creatures chest, yet it still stood their uneffected by the mighty shot.
"No way! that should of gone straight through you'r heart,"
Neji examined the inside of the hole in the creature and noticed that inside of it was nothing but dark energy, the creature was pure evil energy so powerful that it has taken a physical form. The creature lunged at Neji with its blade and nails, Neji was able to tangle the blades with his but the force that creature put behind the attack was enough to push Neji back right into the wall, the creature continued to push against Neji's sword causing him to dig into the wall further, in order to gain some leverage Neji lifted his foot and pushed it hard against the creature face, yet it continued to push even with Neji's boot in its face forcing it to leen back. The blades of the creature were slowly got closer and closer to Neji's neck, Melina coming to his aid summoned the Magus sisters who with a surprise attack forced the creature back. The four surronded the creature on all sides, they now clearly had the advantage yet it did not back down, from all angles it met the attacks of all four without taking a single hit, Sandy the stongest of the Magus sisters and Neji came close but their attacks mearly passed through the creature as it explouded in a haze of black smoke and quickly reform to continue the battle.
It seemed to have no weakness and Mindy was soon brought down after being impaled by its five nails, eventually the three remaining discovered a weakness when Cindy tried to launch a powerful wateraga attack, the creature paniced as the attack narrowly missed him, Sandy them followed up with her Razia attack (i think thats it) and once again the creature paniced and dodged the attack, they continued to fight hard but this time involving magical attacks Neji tried on several attempts to use the lighting edge but the creature immediatly realising the danger of the attack dodged them skillfully, the more near misses the creature had the more angry it became, its attack became more powerful and more deadly, Neji and the ramaining two Magus sister where out matched, Sandy and Cindy where thrown against a wall and left in a daze leaving Neji to face its full fury alone, getting pushed further and further back Neji tried desperately to fend off the attacks but was powerless against it. After being pummeled to the ground the creature raised its blade to finish him off, in an effort to avoid a killing blow Neji raised his arm and took the attack, the sharp blade tore straight through Neji's arm, it flu off and land next to Melina, she let out a terrified scream. Neji roared in agony as he gripped what was left of his arm blood pouring out of it and over his hand.
"MY ARM!! THE BASTARD TOOK MY ARM!!" He roared
It laughed mockenly at Neji as he gritted his teeth and roared in the pain. It once again hell bent on causing pain on Neji it launched two of its nails which impaled in Neji's shoulders, and lunged him against the wall holding him place, Neji looked it in the eyes with a strong will not showing any fear, the creature raised its blade arm to finish Neji off it pulled its arm back but as it went to finish him off something held it back tugging at its arm.
He turned around to see Melina gripped onto its arm trying to pull it away from Neji, angerly it swapped her back and realeased Neji, turning to Melina it walked up to her slowly planning on eliminating the nusence, Melina picked up Neji's sword and held it bravely with a determind look. The remaining Magus sisters soon came to their senses and saw their master Melina in danger they charged foward to attack from behind, but the creature quickly turned around and strectched its limps forward the nails impaled Sandy while the blade impailed Cindy, but instead of disappearing in a hail of pryflies like normal the Magus sister still remained, they looked up at the creature a thin trail of blood coming from their mouths, they gripped his arm to keep it in place. The creature looked inbetween them and saw a blue light crackle like lighting through the nights sky from where Neji was, he could see clearly that Neji was powering up another Lightning edge with his remaining hand.
"No thats not enough to finish him, i need more power," Neji poured more power into the lighting edge.
"more, more!" the blue light crew larger and larger until it burst into a fiery red colour, it crackled with sound of a thousand birds chirping at the same time, loose energy shot from it breaking into the walls, Neji charge forward, towards the creature he ran inbetween the Magus sister who held it still, he thrusted forward his hand effortlessly tearing through its face, it roared as the red light split through its body until it eventually explouded with a termendous rumble.
The force of the evil energy being explouding into an oblivion knocked Neji well back. With a smile the Magus sister burst into pyrflies and dissappeared just like the creature.
Melina ran towards Neji and wrapped a bandage round what was left of Neji's arm and together with Diablos from the inside managed to stop the bleeding and save Neji's life.
Melina helped Neji to his feet and the room lit up with a burst of fire and at the other end of the room the wall opened up into a corridor. Neji gripped his sword with his remaining hand and swung his arm around Melina's shoulder, his sword dangling facing the ground, they travelled down the dark corridor wondering where it would lead them.
Kobie kept walking along the tunnel until it ended in another room, this one empty apart from a large mirror hovering just above the floor in the centre. It was well-lit by torches hanging in brackets along the walls. He looked around, walked round the mirror, then tried running his hands along the walls to feel for hidden passageways, but there were no exits save the one he had just come in by - and the tunnel that led down now finished in a dead end since the enchanted statue had sealed it behind him. He approached the mirror warily. Strangely, it did not reflect an image of the room, only what looked like swirling mists. He found himself becoming almost hypnotised by the slowly spinning fog within the mirror. Disembodied voices seemed to whisper at the edge of hearing, rising in volume and pitch to become the screams and warshouts of a fierce battle.
Suddenly with a bright flash a great fish-like shape appeared within the mirror, glowing with a sinister blue light, razor-winged spawn swarming around it’s monstrous form as all of its many eyes turned to look at Kobie, regarding him coldly. Sin.
Kobie felt suddenly alone - Ramuh’s presence, which he had come to recognise now he knew what to look for, seemed to have disappeared from his mind, and he forgot all about his companions - Fariel, Tanis, even Sonya - as if they were a million miles away. As if they had never existed. Sin stared back at him from within the mirror, holding Kobie in his penetrating gaze, and Kobie felt his vision blur as he was swept back to another time and place, a memory of long ago…
* * *
The Crusaders marched silently, their ranks unfolding into battle formation as they closed in on the regiment of Custodians barring their path into the Calm Lands, where Sin had last been sighted. A warrior-monk of Yevon, carrying a massive spiked morningstar and mounted on a chocobo, rode at the front of the line brandishing his weapon and shouting encouragement to his men.
“They are heretics!” the priest roared, “They revere Sin! They worship that which is pure evil and they are blasphemers against Yevon! They stand in the way of bringing justice to Sin! Kill them all! Yevon’s vengeance is your task!”
Very fond of the sound of his own voice is his lordship, isn’t he Ferin?” a cocky young Crusader with dark blue hair and a permanent wise-guy grin whispered to her chocobo as they formed up alongside the other Chocobo Knights. Ferin kwehd in reply.
Across the field a similar scene was playing out. A young archer called Feyd Kobie was stringing his bow and listening as the Custodian commander, armed with sword and shield instead of the usual Dragon Claws, strode up and down the line.
“The Crusaders want to stop Sin from going about his good works purging forbidden Machina,” he was shouting, “This we cannot allow! Kill the wretched unbelievers! Show no mercy! For Yevon and for Sin!”
He was answered by a cheer and the snap-hiss of Dragon Claws being extended. Many of the Custodians made the sign of Yevon, oblivious that the Crusaders were doing the same.
Simultaneously, the two armies surged forward with twin roars of hatred. Kobie and the other Custodian archers opened fire, and all at once a dozen Crusaders in the front rank were hurled backward by black-feathered arrows, men and chocobos tumbled screaming into the grass. Light glinted off Crusader swords, Dragon Claws flashed in the sunlight, and the two armies slammed into each other, some soldiers being lifted off their feet and thrown up over their opponents by the force of the impact. Kobie and the others ran forward as harsh screaming and the clash of metal on metal filled the air. Kobie saw a huge Ronso Crusader with a mace beating down the Custodian commander, driving him to his knees and splintering both the man’s shield and his forearm as every blow ripped splinters of wood from his shield with its icon of Sin in his serpent form.
“For Sin!” Kobie shouted, firing twice as he ran. The Ronso reared back and bellowed in pain with two arrows sticking out of his chest, and Kobie dropped his bow and extended his Dragon Claws, leaping forward to drive their blades into the Ronso and slam him into the ground. Kobie somersaulted as he landed and sprang to his feet, looking around.
The battle was not going well, and the Custodian line was buckling and edging backwards as the Crusaders drove forward. But suddenly there was a sound like thunder and Kobie turned to see a monstrous, snake-like creature gliding above the Calm Lands towards them.
“Sin!” the Custodians shouted, “Sin!”
Sin sideslipped closer, releasing a swarm of Sin-spawn from his fins which descended like a black cloud on the battle below. The Custodians had been losing the fight, but now it was the Crusaders who were panicking as Sin sliced out huge scars in their ranks with beams of lightning and the agile spawn darted through the melee cutting down Crusaders by the score. Now the unbelievers were breaking and running. Kobie hauled back his bowstring and loosed at a blue-haired Crusader girl who was trying to crawl away into the trees. He cursed as the arrow missed, striking the ground by her foot, but he soon forgot about it. They had won, and the Custodians were cheering.
“Sin! Sin! Hand of Yevon!” they shouted, and Kobie took up the call as Sin circled slowly above them, power crackling around him like an aura.

Kobie stood transfixed, his frightened face reflected in Sin’s unfathomable black eyes. Are you sure you made the right choice? Sin seemed to be asking him.
<ooc - next time: more flashbacks, Kobie fights his evil alter-ego, and Sonya takes on a demon! Yay!>

Melina assited Neji down another long dark corridor lit only by the faint light coming from many dying torches along the walls, after walking for some distance they came to another open room just like the one before.
"This is the same room we were in before, have we been going round in circles," Neji said irritated
"no, look around Neji. after you'r battle with that shape shifter the last room was left in quite a mess, but this room is looks as if its hasn't seen action in along time."
"very observant lady summoner," a voice came from behind them.
Neji turned around quickly, expecting another shape shifter, but was surprised when a beautiful women, dressed in grand robes which seemed to cling to her shapely figure stepped into the light, Neji dazed in her beauty lowered his guard and stared at her in awe. Melina not looking pleased stepped forward to confront this women.
"Who are you?" she demanded
"I am Alana, High summoner since before the times of Yunalesca, even before the times of High Summoner Yevon,"
"High Summoner Yevon?"
"Do you not know the tale? on how Yevon and Sin came into being,"
"Yes 1000 years ago when Bevelle was in war with Zanarkand, we used powerful Machina in the war killing many, which was a great Sin, and from those sins, Sin was born, he destroyed all Machina, and Zanarkand along with it and continues to destroy the land, but the teachings from the god Yevon passed onto the ruler of Zanarkand at the time, Yunalesca she told us of how to beat Sin with was a summoners pilgramage, and if we dont use Machina we will aton for our Sins and Sin will disappear,"
Alana laughed "Yevon a god? Yevon was my Son he was the ruler of Zanarkand during the Zanarkand Bevelle war, and Yunalesca was his daughter, he created Sin to defeat Yevon in the war,"
Melina looked shocked. "Why do you look so surprised lady summoner, it appears that the Maestors have not told you all the truth,"
"And thats why they must all be destroyed!" Neji barked
Alana approached Neji with a smile and stroked his cheek, "that attitude, it reminds me of my husband, oh how i miss him, he died in the war against Bevelle,"
Melina stepped in and dragged Neji away from the temperest, a smile appeared on her face.
"Listen closely, and I will tell you the really story on how Sin was created,"
(Yay, history lesson)
One thousand years ago, there was a great war between the cities of Zanarkand and Bevelle. Yevon, Zanarkand's ruler, could see that his city's summoners were no match for Bevelle's machina, but he was unwilling to allow his city to be swallowed up into the pages of history. He devised a plan to preserve Zanarkand's memory for all eternity, even if he could not save the city itself.
At Yevon's order, most of the surviving common citizens and summoners of Zanarkand gave up their lives to become fayth, whom Yevon would then use to conjure a summoned form of Zanarkand, using their memories as the basis for this massive summon. This summoned replica of the city was to be an ideal paradise, removed from conflict and those who may infringe upon this city of memories. This summoned version of the real Zanarkand is sometimes called "Dream Zanarkand"' to differentiate it from the original Spiran city which has been lying abandoned in ruins for the last one thousand years.
In order to accomplish this, Yevon manifested the city out at sea in an undisclosed location, far removed from the Spiran mainland and the warmongering Bevelle. Further, to prevent technology from allowing Bevelle or anyone else to easily locate his summoned city, and to protect himself while he summoned it, he created a magic armor. Yevon used gravity magic to surround himself with pyreflies and used them to create an invincible armor that would terrorize Spira for one thousand years: The monster known as "Sin." This armor would not only protect Yevon while he summoned Dream Zanarkand, but he also "programmed" it to attack areas with high populations and advanced technology, thus, bringing technological progress to a halt and keeping the people of the mainland from giving much thought to what may lay far out at sea.
Unfortunately for Yevon now known as Yu Yevon, meaning "the Curse of Yevon", maintaining his summoned city and creating Sin was a greater strain on his human mind than even he – who was considered peerless amongst summoners – could handle. His humanity faded from him and all that was left was the instinct to maintain Dream Zanarkand's order, and to protect himself. Sin's first act as an instinctual beast, "programmed" to destroy advanced technology, was to decimate the original Zanarkand. Sin would terrorize Spira's citizens for a millennium.
"So thats how Sin truely came into being,"
"yes the teachings of Yevon, brought in by his daughter Yunalesca, is just a ray of hope for the people of Spira, so the death cycle can continue, and Yevon's rath can continue, whenever you preform a final summoning you only destroy the armor, and Yevon remains alive, it doesnt take him long to rebuild Sin and continue his rampage,"
dishearted Melina said "Neji, you were right about everything, I was just sacrifings myself for a pointless cause,"
Neji put his arm around Melina to comfort her, Melina looked up, determination in her eyes.
"But I won't stop my summoner ways, I will find another way to defeat Sin, Neji I want to travel with you and the others I want to help the Angels anyway I can,"
Neji smiled, "I know when you get that look in you'r eye their aint nothing a can say to stop, very well, but don't forget about the welfare of our unborn child,"
Melina placed her hand and her stomach, "Don't worry, it's my inspiration, I want to bring it into a world without Sin,"
Alana smiled, "very admirable, summoner but don't forget, you are in my world right now, and you wish to destroy my son,"
Neji raised his Sword, and Melina got ready to summon an Aeon.
"We thank you for the information on Sin, but if we have to fight you we will, we won't hold back,"
"Very brave, but i'm not much of a fighter, I wish only for a new husband, and then my soul may rest,"
"a husband?"
"yes, and i've made my choice, I want you Neji,"
Melina stepped in "No way! you can have anyone one you want but not the father of my child,"
"really? I think Neji, sees things differenly,"
Melina turned to Neji, he store blankly at Alana, a purple haze swirling his eyes, Melina called out to him but her calls fell on deaf ears.
"Come, my love," Alana held her out her hand and slowly Neji walked up to her dragging his sword with him.
"No Neji!" Still Melina received no answear. Melina stood in Neji's way trying to push him back, angerly Alana called out.
"Get rid of her, now," Neji raised his sword and with his one arm swung at Melina heavly. Melina closed her eyes and cowered, Neji quickly coming to his sense stopped his attack.
"No! I can't hurt Melina!"
"do it!"
"NO!" Neji yelled and he dropped his sword and help Melina in his one arm.
"very well, if I can't have you, nobody can!" Alana cast a powerful spell, slowly starting at Neji's feet his body turned to stone, Melina jumped back in horror. Neji tried with all his strength to fight the spell but eventually he was completely enguffed in the stone, and stoodn their frozen in time, Melina weeped at his feet, calling out to him.
"Its a shame to let such a handsome man die, if you want back so badly then complete this summoner trial," Alana pointed at the wall and it opened up into another corridor.
"There is an artifact down that corridor, it is the most dangerous summoner trail, and nobody has returned from it alive...not even me, if you can bring it back I will realease the spell,"
With those words Alana disappeared in a flurry of pryflies. Melina wiping away her tears and gathering her strength, headed towards the tunnel.
"Don't worry Neji, I'll get you back,"
(occ whats trials face Melina, you'll have to wait and find out)
<ooc - nice one Sean, Melina’s been a tag-along for Neji for too long so it’s nice for her to get a bit of the limelight for once>
Kobie stood as if hypnotised by Sin’s gaze, feeling an urge to drop to his knees in obeisance to what was surely the Hand of Yevon. But then, another memory rose up in his mind - though not this time at the command of the Sin in the mirror.
* * *
It was two weeks after the Custodians had won their great victory over the latest Crusade. There was a commotion in the town, and Kobie stepped outside the barracks to see what was going on. The sight that met his eyes took his breath away.
Sin was drifting through the sky towards them, this time in the form of a massive blue orb that blocked out the sun and replaced its glare with a glowing turquoise light. The town’s inhabitants - Custodians and their families, all believers in Sin’s divine purpose - fell to their knees as one, calling out Sin’s name as the Hand of Yevon honoured them with his presence. But something was wrong, light was crackling around Sin furiously with a noise like a howling tempest, and the Custodians were just beginning to exchange puzzled looks when the first beam of light slashed down and swept through a line of civilians before they even had a chance to move, fire leaping from house to house and the ground heaving as Sin began to uncaringly obliterate his own worshippers. Kobie stood frozen in horror as screaming villagers were flung into the air by a fiery blast to land dead at his feet, women and children among them. There was no time to run, just time to recognise death’s approach as another of the beams lanced down and flashed towards him, but just before it swept him out of existence it blew apart a nearby stable and sent flying a farm cart which slewed towards him, knocking him out of the beam’s path before overturning and trapping him beneath it. Whether by sheer luck or the intervention of some higher power <ooc - Ramuh :) > Kobie had been spared, trapped but unhurt and hidden beneath the charred cart as Sin completed the destruction of the town and its inhabitants.
Kobie did not dare to move until long after the screaming had stopped. After an hour - or it might have been a day, he couldn’t tell - he heaved the cart up enough to pull himself out from under it. Sin was gone, and he had left total devastation in his wake. The town was a scene of chaos, with houses gutted by fire and scores of bodies lying where they had fallen strewn amongst the wreckage. Save Kobie, no-one was left alive.
The Custodians would say Sin had punished his village for their faithlessness, but Kobie had seen for himself the cold-blooded murder and destruction of that unprovoked attack, and he suddenly realised that everything he had ever believed in was a lie. Sin was a monster. Sin was not the Hand of God. He was the Hand of the Devil…
* * *
The Sin in the mirror roared in fury as Kobie’s expression turned from awe to angry defiance, and disappeared in a swirl of mist. The mirror now reflected only Kobie himself. Breathing heavily, he looked around, and was surprised to notice that his reflection followed his movements, but in slow motion, disturbing the swirling fog of the mirror around it. Kobie frowned and turned to leave the room, but on an impulse looked back one last time at the mirror.
His reflection was already staring back at him, its eyes blazing red. As Kobie jumped back in horror, his reflection actually stepped out of the mirror, passing through the glass and rippling it like a watery portal.
“You know, I’m disappointed in you, Feyd,” the reflection said as he paced up and down the room, his overcoat waving gently behind him, never taking his eyes off Kobie, “You could have become so much more if you had just stayed with the Custodians. Sin marked you out for greatness by sparing you, and you just threw it all away.”
“You’re lying!” Kobie snarled back, “Sin doesn’t give a damn about the Custodians who worship him and he never did!”
“If you really believe that,” the reflection said coldly, “Why have you never been free of doubt?”
“I saw Sin in that mirror just now,” Kobie countered, jabbing a finger towards the mirror his doppelganger had just stepped out of, “And I cast him out as the deception that he is!”
“Then why am I still here?” the reflection asked with a slanted smile. He cocked his head so that his neck clicked, then unsheathed his Dragon Claws, identical to Kobie’s.
“I’m going to destroy you, Feyd,” he said, “So I can succeed where you failed and take the chance that Sin offered me. I shall become the Feyd Kobie that you should have but didn’t.”
Kobie unsheathed his own Dragon Claws, a look of fierce determination on his face.
“If destroying you is the only way I can be free of Sin, then so be it.”
He closed his eyes, gripping the wizard pendant hanging round his neck, and called on Ramuh to crush his dark reflection, but to his surprise and consternation his mind was empty. Ramuh wasn’t there.
Kobie opened his eyes to see his reflection looking at him with a smug smile on his face.
“No outside help, Feyd,” he sneered, “Just you and me. Two halves of the same person. But I guarantee at the end of this there’s only going to be one.”
They locked eyes, Kobie’s hard blue eyes meeting the dully-glowing red ones of his doppelganger.
The two identical warriors circled warily, looking for an opening.
<ooc - note to self: I really should go and write Sonya’s bit sometime soon as the poor girl’s been standing in that corridor kicking her heels for a while now>

(occ - kinda long but it's funny, i get my payback by landing on Tanis and find my silly little end of trial prize :D lol alright, your turn!)
The dark corridor went on forever, Fariel ran her blades down each wall, hoping that there would be an off passage, eventually it got slightly lighter but only enough to see a few feet ahead of her.
“Leviathan, give me some help here. What am I doing here…? Leviathan?” she sighed, the water serpent was ignoring her again. “Fine, I’m not talking to you either then.” She laughed then it got a little lighter again, “I swear this is the last time I ever let Tanis drag us anywhere….I wonder what he’s doing, he’s probably already found his way out, the rest of them as well. I’m probably the only poor sap stuck in here. How much you wanna bet they’ve left me here?” Still silence.
Her blades left the walls as they disappeared from her sides, again she found herself in a large room like the one previously and torches in each corner flared to life and the centre of the room was a pedestal. Walking in a wide circle towards it she kept her distance, swords raised expecting something to jump out at her or something generally horrible to happen. A group of pyraflies appeared from the pedestal and started to spin around it until she couldn’t see the pedestal at all. Then the pyraflies rose up above it and crashed into the ground ahead of it, a figure rising up from them in flowing blue and white robes, a woman, with blue markings down the sides of her face and neck, and pointed ears.
Typical, another elf.
“Hello Lady Fariel, I’ve been waiting for you.”
“Who are you?” Fariel snapped staying back.
“I am Lady Rayne, and you are the one chosen by Leviathan as you proved in the trail.”
“Yeah, me and Leviathan are partners, what’s your point?”
“If you weren’t you would be dead. In the first trail you summoned him to your aid, which proves that you are the chosen one. The second trail will confirm it. Step up to the pedestal please.”
“Why should I?”
“Because it’s your destiny.”
Fariel muttered a few curses and sheathed her swords wearily, inching closed and stepped up to the pedestal. Surprisingly four silver bracelets had appeared with a blue gem on each.
“Now what do you want me to do?”
“Put them on, if you truly are the chosen one they won’t kill you.”
“Well then I guess I’m not dying today then.”
Fariel picked up the first bracelet and put it around her arm, nothing happened, and let out the breath she had been holding without noticing, she put on the second and still nothing happened. Two for arms, two for legs, she assumed and taking the other two put them around her shins and slid them down under her boots. She jumped back as they suddenly extended, the tops of her lower arm were covered in the silver, like bracers, the same happened on her leg’s the bracelets became shin guards. Smiling she looked at Rayne, who’s expression hadn’t changed, instead she burst into the pyraflies again and started to circle the pedestal again , the ground rumbling again as she inched back away from the pedestal, the pyraflies shot towards her like a shockwaves from an explosion and sent her flying backwards and skidding across the floor.
Growling she got onto all fours and pushed up onto what she was expecting to be her knees but fell back forwards again, confused she looked around, everything seemed slightly bigger, looking down at her hands she gasped as she saw paw’s, large grey paws. Eyes wide she turned her head to look at herself, she wasn’t her anymore, a tail waved backwards and forwards at the base of her back and she whimpered, the silver bracers still sat around her arms and leg’s, although they were all leg’s now.
“Rayne, what the frak did you do to me! I’m a dog!”
“No you are a wolf.” Rayne corrected her reappearing at the pedestal.
“Wow what a difference! What did you do?!” she barked, “Oh sweet unsent yevon on a pogo stick…Change me back”
“You can change back at any time Fariel, this is the power of the bracers, they have heightened you senses in everyway, perfect for a thief, no?”
“What? You mean, I can like, shape shift…?”
“Into any animal in which you desire, but you can’t take off the bracelets Fariel, they are now as much as you as Leviathan is.”
“Me, a shape shifter…? I’m like something out of a story book!” she yipped, “This is excellent, just think if I have the hearing and smell of a wolf or the wings of a bird, or something weird like that, I could rob anyone and everything around!” she jumped up and down and started walking towards Rayne, shakily, “Gonna take walking on these um, paws, getting used to though.”
Looking up at Rayne, she nodded her head, “Good luck Lady Fariel.”
Fariel bowed, “Thank you.”
Rayne burst into pyraflies and disappeared into the pedestal which shook and lowered into the ground, leaving a wide hole in the ground.
Peering down her muzzle at the hole in the ground she smiled, as much as a wolf could, and looked back at the passage she had travelled down.
“Guess I’m going down again…” she sighed, “Someone fat get in my way!” she yelled jumping down the hole.
oo0oo
Tanis had reached the large room and paused in the centre as he heard, a distant yelling, looking around he drew his katana, standing his ground he waited. He yelped and fell to the ground under the things weight as it fell atop of him, his katana escaping his grasp and spinning across the floor, pushing the complaining creature off he launched across the floor, grabbed his blade and stood ready keeping a distance from the creature.
“Son’ova…” Fariel cursed getting onto her paws again and looking around, seeing Tanis she grinned, “Tanis! Finally, I thought I would never find you guys, where are the others?”
Tanis stayed wide of her as she stepped closer, not sure what to make out of the large wolf in front of him, “Stay back fiend!” she snapped.
“Fiend? I ain’t no fiend you idiot!” she retorted, Tanis not believing it and lashing out with his blade, Fariel jumping back to avoid them and running around behind him as he spun around to see her again, “Tanis for frak sake what are you doing!” she yelled but he only responded in a Bisingr towards her, “Oh frak! Waterga!” she yelled back and to her surprise it actually worked, a wave of water burst out and slowed the spell but didn’t stop it as steam filled the room, jumping out the way as the remains of the spell crashed into the wall behind where she was standing, “Tanis!” she growled, “For yevon’s sake stop attacking me! I know your annoyed I fell on ya but its just fair! You always fall out the sky on me!” She barked, Tanis stopping and stepping back.
“Fariel?” He asked in disbelief
“Congratulations Mr. Obvious. Stop attacking me!”
“How could you possibly be Fariel, your trickery won’t work on me. Prove it!” he demanded.
“You’re a dick.” she retorted, Tanis looking at her sideways and she did a spin for him.
“Fariel what happened to you?”
“Isn’t it cool! Some elf gave me these funny bracelets which turned out to be bracers which give me the power to shape shift! Then she opened up the way out the room and that’s when I fell on you and you frakking well attack me!”
“Sorry Fariel, but you don’t look like you.”
“Well who do I look like, Kobie?”
“Fariel you’re a wolf?”
“I know, I haven’t quite figured out how to change into a different form yet. I’m just trying to find the others and get out of here, so c’mon.”
“No Fariel, I haven’t finished yet. You go on your own and find the others I will join you soon.”
“Oh, alright, well I’ll see ya back outside then!” she smiled running off down the corridor he had entered by.
The dark tunnel Sonya had been following had begun to slope down quite steeply. She wondered vaguely how big the temple was. It seemed huge - though you couldn’t tell with all these dark, claustrophobic corridors that all looked the same; maybe she was going round in circles, or the same rooms were magically shifting and changing every time she entered? Suddenly, she found herself stumbling forward despite the light from her staff, and she barely had time to scream as she lost her footing and slid down the steep-sided tunnel. It ended suddenly and she was sent sprawling on the sandy floor of another large room. She got up quickly and looked around, but nothing moved, or leapt from a dark corner towards her. All there was was darkness and an oppressive silence, broken only by the sound of her own breathing. Holding up her glowing staff to light up the room, she saw that it was circular, with a large stone pillar in the centre. Strangely, the floor was covered with sand rather than stone tiles like the rest of the temple. Opposite her entry point was a huge gateway, barred with a massive iron portcullis. She could see by the light of her staff that there was a corridor behind the gate, but she could not see very far down it. It was a menacing sight - a cavernous dark tunnel stretching back into the unknown - and looking around again Sonya was struck by the uncomfortable thought that the room looked a lot like an arena. Her nerves snapped and she whirled to retreat from the room, but as she did so metal bars slammed down to block the tunnel she had come from, striking the sand with an ominous clang-thud. Simultaneously, there was the sound of chains being dragged across stone and the portcullis barring the larger tunnel began to rise. A red light was glowing dully somewhere along the passageway, and getting brighter. Sonya fought the urge to panic and used Tritoch’s Farsight to look down the tunnel ahead as the glow came closer and began to light up the walls of the arena. She only caught a glimpse of what was causing the glow before it became too bright for her Farsight and she had to retreat her vision to her own body with a gasp of pain, but what she did see in that instant made her almost sob in fear.
A creature that was all fire and shadows was striding up the corridor. It was vaguely man-shaped but many times larger, and it had a bestial face framed by two huge horns. It’s skin was reptilian and appeared to be made of charred black rock, and between its scales firelight glowed. Tongues of flame burst from cracks in the black rock of its head and back, forming a mane of fire. Its eyes glowed white like molten metal. <ooc - yes, I’m describing the Balrog from LOTR ;) >
With a bestial roar the demon burst into the arena. It raised a fiery hand and flames shot forth like an extension of its arm in a powerful Firaga, straight at Sonya. She dived aside just in time, rolling back onto her feet and circling to keep the central pillar between her and the demon as it stalked forward, sand hissing and melting into glass with its red-hot tread. It reared back and roared before launching another Firaga, but Sonya was ready this time and rebounded the spell back towards the demon. However it seemed the demon too knew the Reflect spell, and with a wave of its clawed hand it sent it spiralling upwards to flare against the ceiling and bring down a hail of stone chips.
It’s useless to fight fire with fire, Sonya suddenly thought, but maybe its weakness is…
“Ishara!” she shouted, and as she thrust her staff towards the demon a column of water whirlpooled into existence before her, thundering towards her fiery nemesis.
The demon roared in anger as it was engulfed by the tsunami, and disappeared behind a cloud of hissing steam. Suddenly there was a bright glare and the wall of water was thrown back by a powerful spell, and the demon reared up once more. The red glow emanating from it and lighting the arena had been replaced by a blue one. Somehow the demon had changed its form - instead of being made of fire it now had skin of jagged ice crystals, and with one glacial breath the demon froze Sonya’s water spell into a sheet of ice and shattered it with its fist, before casting a volley of Blizzagas at her. Sonya threw up a shield spell just in time and the hails of ice shards hammered against it, throwing her backwards.
“Firannon!” Sonya screamed, and lightning coruscated over her staff and arced towards the demon, but in a flash it changed form again and the elvish lightning cracked harmlessly over a creature of stone. Now the demon was no longer glowing the room was plunged into darkness, and Sonya lit up her staff just in time to register the sixth sense that was Tritoch screaming in warning and to see the demon’s arm swinging towards her. She threw herself backwards just in time, pirouetting through the air to land on her feet, but the demon slammed the ground with its fist to throw Sonya off balance and ripped a chunk of rock from its own shoulder before hurling the boulder towards her. She rolled out of the way a split second before the missile crushed her, and used her staff to lever herself up and cartwheel back onto her feet. With a flash the demon changed back to its fire form, searing Sonya’s vision with the sudden glare. It reached towards her with a clawed hand, but Sonya was already running to again put the pillar between her and the demon and its hand closed on empty air.
“Help me Tritoch, I can’t defeat it!” Sonya sobbed, gripping the bird pendant round her neck tightly as the demon smashed the pillar aside with a roar of rage and strode towards her. Then she remembered - Tritoch’s main attack was Tri-Dazer…
She saw a bright halo of light form above her, in the shape of a great bird with its wings outstretched protectively. The demon stopped in its tracks, recoiling from the dazzling white light cast by the ghostly image of Tritoch. Sonya took her chance and, drawing on all of her and her Aeon’s power, summoned all the elements into one overwhelming magical missile. Fire roared into life, lightning crackled, and slipstreams of ice coiled about her as the elements twisted together into a blinding beam of energy that lanced out to strike the demon dead centre. Unable to change form to counter three elements at once, it could only roar its rage as it was hurled backwards and burst into a flurry of Pyraflies.
As both the Pyraflies and the halo of her guardian angel faded, the arena went pitch black again and Sonya was left standing in complete darkness, shaking with fear and adrenaline.

(occ - you know you loved it Fenix ;) lol All those pisstake ideas, and film rip offs, all there :p lol there has to be some peice of bad writing somewhere, you can make it look cool in your book but the anime is going to be funny :p lol)
"Damn Fariel...i almost killed her! If it wasnt for that stupid power she would have been killed!"
Tanis trudged down along the corridor -bland like everything else- and drew his katana once again. He could feel a power slowly eminating from further ahead. He slowly walked along the corridor, thankful that he had lost his top, unknown to the angels was that all of his clothes were weighted. The added on a good 40 kilograms...which was a lot. But now thanks to the fact he had lost his top half he felt light as...well light as an elf!
Tanis stopped as he heared a roar coming from infront of him...he knew what it was but couldent quite place it. He decided that he would rather be safe than sorry...he was no good to the angels dead. He slowly undid his swords and laid them on the ground. He looked at them fondly as he began to unlace the top of his trousers.
"Glad i decided to wear some shorts underneath!"
As a matter of fact they were not shorts but a cross between trousers and shorts...made to be baggy allowing the wearer to move freely.
Tanis looked at his swords fondly. He had kiled many a fiend with them...but...they would do him no good in here. Tanis carefully took the katana from the three and strapped that on to his almost naked body.
"Gotta stay on my toes...onn wrong move could be the end of me..."
Tanis began to run forward. But this was not a regular run. This was the fastest he had run ever. Faster than timewarp. Tanis could see that his weighted traning and his magic traning had paid off.
Tanis burst into a clearing that reminded him vaugely of home. It had tall trees, almost to the point they could net be seen, looming over him. The place, forest, was alive with life. And then he heard the roar again...and some loud noises...almost like footsteps...
A ball of fire shot out at Tanis from the forest setting the trees around him ablaze. Tanis dived to the left and drew his only weapon to defend himself.
(very long, maybe i shouldnt do these things in a word doc, i get 2 carried away)
Melina walked down the dark corridor cautiously, as she got deeper and deeper, things became darker and darker until she couldn’t even see her hand in front of her face. She leaned against the wall feeling her away down. It seemed to go on and on without stopping she often wondered just how big the corridor was, she was tempted to summon the fire Aeon Ifrit, but feared that the sudden fiery light which radiates from him may grab the attention creature which may live this darkness. With that thought she soon got the feeling that maybe something had already spotted her and was stalking her down the corridor, she hastened her down in fear, daring not summoning Ifrit, nor going back.
Curiosity and fear finally got the better of her and she summoned Ifrit. The aeon burst out the ground lighting the corridor instandly with its fiery glow, Melina shielding her eyes from sudden change of brightness, but soon gained focus again. She turned around nervously but was glad to see nothing was behind her, she examined the corridor its was quiet big, big enough for Ifrit the move around freely, but not big enough for the likes of Bahamut or Anima to fit in. Together with Ifrit they walked down the corridor until they came across a large room. At the other end was a great door with the image of Valefor, on the foot of the door was an inscription which said;
“only those who have mastered all light Aeons may pass,” (when I say light I mean everyone but Anima since she’s a dark Aeon).
In the centre of the room was a circle, again with the image of Valefor on it, curious Ifrit walked onto the image only to fade away in a hail of Pyr flies. The room was once again Dark upon Ifrits disappearance. Knowing exactly what to do Melina summoned Valefor, the giant feathered bird with a chain of rings coming down from one of its wings, Valefor rested on the image of itself, the entire room lit up brighter than Ifrit ever could as a magical light residing from Valefor brightened up the great door and lit the massive torches surrounding the room.
The door creeped opened out of it came another Valefor but this one unlike the original was coloured black and grey as opposed from the regular colours of Red and blue. Valefor was usually a gentle creature but this one had an evil glint in its eyes, it charged at Melina’s Valefor, which was forced into engaging its evil counter part in a great aerial battle. Both Valefors released a flurry of energy rays and sonic wings attacks at each other but they seemed to cancel each other out. Both Valefors were equal in their normal attacks, so Melina gave the order to Valefor to use attacks which were not natural to it, this was were Melina’s true skills as a summoner showed themselves she had taught her Aeons moves that they wouldn’t normally learn in order to give her the edge in battles. Valefor cast haste on itselfs and began circling the dark Valefor rapidly, the slower Valefor got dizzy from tracking its movements and was knocked hard on the ground by Melina’s Valefors sonic wings attack. Ascending high up in the room, it prepared itself to launch its Energy Blast attack. The dark Valefor noticing this charged quickly towards Melina’s but charged straight into the powerful attack instantly killing it.
Melina dismissed Valefor then proceeded through the great, it opened out into another massive room just like the one she was just in, the same type of great door and the same circle on the floor but this time it was Ifrit’s picture on the door and floor. Melina summoned Ifrit once again, and the same thing as what happened in the previous room happened here, the doors opened up and out came a dark fired Ifrit. The two engaged in an awesome fire fight, dark flames collided with light, sparking out into multi coloured embers. The dark Ifrit lit up for a mighty hell’s fire attack, it charged relentlessly at Melina’s Ifrit, but it was countered when Melina’s cast slow on Ifrit. It ran in slow motion giving Ifrit plenty of time to side step the attack. Dark Ifrit was at the mercy of Melina’s and it continued to toy with it’s opponent until Melina stepped in reminding him that they were in a hurry and to finish it off. Ifrit released it’s Inferno attack, it enguffed its opponent in a mighty ball of fire, causing it to rocket into the air, he released another blast of fire which greatly increased the mass of flames, before it finally finished it off by picking up a chunk of the ground and hurled it at it’s defeated opponent. (I’m just gonna sum up the other fights)
The other rooms provided similar results, the two Ixion’s collided in an awesome show of electrical prowess until Melina’s cast Wateraga an attack which is rarely seem used by an electrical monster, before finishing it off with a powerful Thor’s hammer attack made even more powerful due to the fact the target was wet.
Ice clashed with Ice as Shiva and Dark Shiva launched highly sharp icicles at each other and collided fist to fist in a great show of agility, Melina’s won the fight by casting Reflect on itself turning the dark Shiva’s heavenly strike against her, leaving Melina’s Shiva with ample time to cast Diamond Dust, the power not only frozen her opponent but the entire room. Finally with a quick flick of the beautiful Aeons finger the ice shattered, shattering her opponent with it.
But the most explosive battle was Bahamut versus Dark Bahamut, the room they fought in was much bigger than the other rooms in order to satisfy the most powerful of Aeons. Their claws clashed and the Impulse attacks collided with each other leaving creators in the ground. Melina’s Bahamut used the ability boost to greatly boost its fighting potential the Dark Bahamut, completely out matched was forced to unleash its Mega Flare attack, Melina’s Bahamut contered with its Mega Flare the power was humongous the entire room shook but when the dust settled it was Melina’s who stood triumphant.
Dark Yojimbo and Yojimbo clashed blades many times until Melina’s summoned a second sword called Zanmato which split the Dark Yojimbo in two with a single slash.
And finally the Magus Sisters fought a gruelling three v three battle until all that was left standing was the Sandy’s. They fought hard for along time until Melina’s finally won with an outside interference from Melina who cast protect on her summoning to aid in the battle.
Finally Melina came to the end of her trials, she found herself once again walking down a long dark tunnel, but this time she could see a light she rushed over to light. With a great flash of light Melina found herself gazing upon a glowing summoners staff. It stood on a pedestal illuminating the surrounding areas, the staff was long and white, the top was shaped as a golden half moon, with red magical pearl in the middle. Slowly she walked up to it, she tried to read the text on the pedestal, but it was written in a text she had never seen before, it was not Al’bed nor was it Elfish, she picked up the staff, it was light yet appeared very durable, she could sense the magical entities radiating from the staff and as she wielded it she could feel it enhance her magical and physical abilities.
“Yes! Yes! I did it! I did it! Hold on Neji I’m coming,” she shouted with delight, but as she did the pedestal crumbled to the ground, revealing a door which appeared to be a camber of the faith behind it. Melina walked cautiously in and prayed to the faith. Before her appeared, what looked like a wise old women, upon closer exception Melina could see clearly the pointing ears of an elf.
“Well done young summoner, you have passed the trails and thus have earned the rite of that staff you carry,”
“Thank you very much, ancient faith,”
“I am Eden, a faith long forgotten for over 5,000 years,”
“5,000!? Faith existed back then?”
“Yes, the practise of summonings has existed for many thousands of years; I am from a time of great turmoil and pain,”
“Please wise faith share this knowledge with me,”
“over 5,000 years ago, before Zanarkand even existed their was a powerful creature called Penance who terrorised the world which is now known as Spira, the temple you are in now is all that is left of the once great city of Atellier I was the faith that resides here, over time I have updated the temple so the next generation of summoners could make it to me, it was also made to train the avenging angels,”
“Avenging angels, you mean Neji and all the others, have their arrival been predicted from over 5,000 years”
“So they are the new Avenging Angels then?”
“New?”
“Yes over the generations their has been many Avenging Angels, the aeons that reside in them were all previous Avenging Angels, Just like the cycle of death it goes on and on,”
“Please go on, I must know the truth,”
“Very well summoner but this main take awhile, make yourself comfortable,”
(to be continued, ive got an idea for another rp after this one, btw Penance is the Boss you get to fight after you beat all the Dark Aeons he’s only in the International version and he’s 1 millions times tougher than the Dark Aeons)
(occ - yes i'm bored! And i can see Fariel getting attacked becoming a cruel on going joke until everyone knows why shes waltzing around as a wolf hahahahahaha :p isnm't it fun)
Running through the dimly lit corridor Fariel found she could see well, and found it amusing though her thoughts kept wandering to the others. She had run into Tanis by chance but he sent her away, and the other’s, she just hoped she could find them soon and get out of the strange maze, though pyraflies started to group ahead of her and she dug her claws into the ground, skidding to a halt, only to find that it was Rayne again pointing to the left. Thinking it through she decided to trust her and ran past left down a corridor she hadn’t seen, which probably wasn’t even there before she appeared. The tunnel started to slope upwards and ahead was a light source, running faster she reached it and got the sensation that she was flying, well damn, was what crossed her mind as she closed her eyes ad waited to land on someone again but then she felt sand under her paws, opening an eye she smiled she was back outside, standing next to the pillar where she had been in the first place.
“Finally I’m out” she laughed jumping up and down, “Damn it I was supposed to be looking for the others.” she rolled her eyes, stepping forwards and prodding the pillar with her nose but nothing happened, “Frak.” she cursed, then a bullet winged past her ear and she ducked down into the sand and looked towards the airship, “Great…”
Cid and Barret stood in front of the airship, Cid with a gun raised and aimed at her, “Stupid fiend, you better not have hurt Neji or the others!” Cid yelled, the pair of them advancing on her.
“Cid, shoot at me again and I’ll rip off your arm!” she snapped, Cid and Barret stopping in their advance and looking at each other.
“Kid?”
“Oh jeez, am I going to have to go through this with all of you? My name is not kid, it’s Fariel!” she bitched, “and yes, it’s me! So don’t shoot at me again!” she growled shaking the sand out her fur and walked up to them, sitting in front of them. Barret bending over and patting her on the head.
“Good doggy.” he said sarcastically until she did try and bite him and he laughed loudly, “Yup, defiantly her.”
“What happened to you and where are the others?” Cid interrupted Barret’s fun.
“Long story short, I got these cool bracers, got the ability to shape shift, the others are still in the temple probably still running through the trails to get their fun new stuff. I ran into Tanis though, well fell on him, he’s doing fine. The dragon didn’t rough him up too bad.”
“Dragon?”
“Oh don’t worry about that. Anyway, I was looking for the others when I ended up back out here and you attacked me! If someone else attacks me I swear I’m going to kill someone.” she grinned evilly walking back to the pillar and lying down next to it waiting for the others.
Cid and Barret looked at each other and shrugged, “Fariel’s a dog and the others are lost. That’s a great start to the day.”
<ooc - Meh, I'm really gonna have to screw around with the order of these posts in the novel but I couldn't think of any cool stuff for Kobie to do at the moment so here's the rest of Sonya's adventure instead>
After taking a minute to regain her composure, Sonya relit her staff and followed the large tunnel the demon had come from. It ended in two double-doors covered in ornate carvings, which swung open loudly as she approached. Beyond was another vast room, and the walls of this one seemed to just keep going up and up towards a ceiling that was shrouded in a pale blue mist.
I think you can guess what the challenge here is, Sonya, said a familiar voice inside her head.
She smiled, and closed her eyes to summon Tritoch. The Aeon hazed into life above her in a crackling halo of elemental energies and looked at her with penetrating eyes. She jumped up onto Tritoch’s back and immediately he spread his wings and leapt upward, leaving a trail of fire and ice in his wake. Sonya held on tightly as they corkscrewed up into the mist, and then they were through it and Tritoch was turning in the air and swooping down to land on a slowly spinning shelf of rock that floated in midair a few metres above the mist.
“Thanks, Tritoch.” she said to the Aeon, then turned to look at a silver mirror drifting beyond the rocky shelf in midair, orbiting it at the same languid speed the shelf itself was rotating at, runic letters picked out in gold filigree around its frame. They were not in the Common Tongue, nor were they in elvish, so she could not read them. Just in front of the mirror floated a pedestal, upon which something was glowing brightly. She looked doubtfully at the mirror and the pedestal, and at the empty air in between. It was clear she was meant to get to it, but it was also much too far to jump. She turned to the waiting Aeon, wondering if he could fly her over towards the mirror, but as if anticipating her question Tritoch shook his noble aquiline head.
This I cannot help you with, Angel. You must do this alone.
“But there’s no way I can get over there without your help! I thought the point of these trials was that only the Avenging Angels and the First Aeons could complete them?”
They are, but some parts of the trials the Angels must complete without our help. Have you seen the inscription on the mirror?
“Yes, but I can’t read it.”
I know - it is the language of Atellier, a language dead for nearly five millennia. But I can translate it for you.
“What does it say?”
‘And the Avenging Angel will look into her own eyes, see herself for what she is, and her faith will carry her towards the prize.’
Had it been anyone but Tritoch, Sonya would have asked if they were being serious. She walked gingerly to the edge of the platform opposite the mirror. Below her the mist swirled. She looked back at Tritoch, who nodded encouragingly, then ahead at the mirror, reflecting her uncertain-looking face.
‘And the Avenging Angel…’ she repeated to herself in her mind, I’m an Avenging Angel.
She looked at the mirror, reflecting her elf-made travelling clothes, her mage’s staff, and behind her, Tritoch watching silently.
Yeah, I’m an Avenging Angel, she thought and, very slowly, put one foot forward and stepped out into thin air. She felt her foot come to rest on something solid. Not daring to take her eyes off the mirror lest it break the spell, she lifted her other foot and stepped completely off the platform. She didn’t fall.
She stood there for a second, her breathing fast and shallow, then risked a glance down at her feet. There was no visible walkway, just the mist roiling silently below her. She was glad that it concealed exactly how far up they were. She was walking on air!
Suddenly she laughed and looked back at Tritoch with a wild smile of amazement. The great bird smiled back with its eyes before dissolving into a swarm of Pyraflies and disappearing.
She walked forward, getting more confident with each step, until she reached the pedestal and saw that the glowing object was a silver ring etched with microscopic runes, several tiny gemstones of varying colour set into the metal. She picked it up and immediately felt the power radiating from it. Magical energy seemed to swirl around it and course through her as se slipped it onto the third finger of her right hand. If her ordinary wooden staff had served as a focus for her elemental magic, then this master-crafted ring would surely increase its potential by a huge amount.
She looked at it for a second, marvelling at the workmanship and the detail of the tiny runes, then wondered how she was going to get down from this invisible walkway back into the temple. The obvious solution almost made her laugh. She gripped her staff tightly and let herself fall off the walkway.
The air roared past her as she fell through the mist and towards the stone floor of the cavernous room far below. The room was so huge she fell for a good ten seconds before getting anywhere near the floor, so she just spread her arms, her cloak streaming behind her, half petrified and half exhilarated by what she was doing. As the floor rushed up to meet her she cast Aero and was stunned by the new force of the spell and the ease of casting her new ring granted her. She had only meant to slow her descent but the sudden hurricane actually blasted her upwards before she got control of it and allowed it to twirl her gently downwards like a windblown leaf. She used Anistara the elvish ice spell, to summon a glittering slide which she used to foot-surf safely to the floor.
“I wonder how Feyd’s getting on with his trial?” she asked herself.
I’m sure he’s fine Sonya, Tritoch’s voice said inside her mind, Look - a way out.
Pushing her hair out of her eyes she saw a new door had appeared in the far wall. Calling again on Tritoch’s Farsight she looked along the tunnel, her vision flying weightlessly along its twisting corridor, and saw that it ended in a round room lit by guttering torches. The torchlight flickered off a one-armed statue in the centre of the room, and she gasped when she saw the statue’s face.
“Oh Yevon, it’s Neji!”
Not seeing Melina, Kobie, or any of the others anywhere she snapped her eyes open to cancel the spell and began to run towards the door, but just as she passed through the archway there was a bright flash and she found herself sprawling in the sand at the foot of the stone obelisk that had transported them into the temple in the first place.
She saw the airship ahead and rolled onto her back to scramble to her feet and call for help, but then she froze as she saw the giant wolf-fiend standing over her.
<ooc - “Boo!” says Fariel XD >

Captain Thule: We have yet to meet our betters, alien. All we have seen are deluded tyrants, heretics and alien scum. Farseer Taldeer: You should have looked beyond your mirror then.
“Boo!” Fariel laughed jumping up and down, “I was beginning to worry! Did you see the others; no one else has come back out yet except me.” Fariel chatted on, Sonya scrambling away and getting to her feet lifting her staff in defence.
Fariel stopped talking and looked up at Sonya who was about to cast at her but Cid appeared by her side and lowered her staff, Fariel crouching in the sand hoping that Sonya wouldn’t attack her too.
“Hold on a sec there Sonya, don’t want you attacking the poor girl too.”
“What?”
”That’s Fariel, not a fiend.”
“There’s a difference?” Sonya smiled, Cid laughing and releasing her staff.
“Thanks Cid, I think if she attacked me she wouldn’t have missed.”
“Fariel what did you do this time?” Sonya asked accusingly.
“Heh, sit down and wait for the others with me and I’ll tell ya.” She grinned shaking off the sand that had been blown into her in the wind.
The pair sitting down and Cid going back to the ship, and after a short explanation Sonya couldn’t help but smile.
“So not only are you a hyperactive thief with an aeon you are now a hyperactive shape shifting thief with an aeon.”
“Yeah isn’t it cool?! What about you? Did you see the others? Oh and is that a new ring?”
“Yes, it is what I received at the end of my trail, and no I didn’t see the others…though I did see Neji, well I think it was Neji, it was a statue…?”
“Haven’t got a clue, I only saw Tanis before ending back out here. So now I’m just waiting for the others.”
Sonya looked up at the airship, catching a glimpse of Cid as he disappeared up the ramp and into it’s walls, then she looked back to Fariel with a smile but she jumped back as she found herself sitting next to a cat instead of a wolf.
“Um, did everything just get bigger?” Fariel asked looking to Sonya who seemed to have doubled in size.
“Fariel you’re a cat.” Sonya blinked, “And now you’re a wolf again, make up your mind. I swear I’m never going to get used to that.”
“Huh, If I figured that out sooner I probably wouldn’t have gotten attacked by Tanis and Cid. Well I guess i just have to think about what I want to be to change.” Fariel laughed, “It’s always the simple things that seem more difficult then they really are.”
Over 5000 years ago their was once an evil Tyrant called Penance, he led his army to conjure the world, his power was great, neither we or the elves could stand up him, yet the power he had, he believed he could become stronger and guested to find this power. One by one he destroyed the temples of the planet and taking the power of the faith for himself.
In order to combat this threat more and more people sacrivesed themselfs to become faith to combat this villian, but all was in vain and they added to his power until eventually he changed, he became a giant monster far stronger and bigger than Sin and he continued his rampage.
Every summoner on the Planet gathered into one great army and marched against him one last time, even the gods of Aeons stepped in; Ramuh, Tritoch, Diablos and Levithan. It was a gruling battle but it ended in complete defeat for the allied forces, all gods lost their lifes in the battle and all hope was lost, until this city remained the last standing of all the great citys, the great minds of this temple came up with a plan, they infused the essences of the gods into citizens of this city, they became the Avenging Angels and were our last line of defence against him, time and time again they failed and thus new Angels were born to continue the fight for years this cycle continued until a fifth Angel was created by the elves to aid, the fifth would have no god but would receive great power to fight on level tirms with the Angels.
In the final battle the five angels managed to seal Penance with a powerful spell, with his last ownce of strenghth Penance destroyed this city so all that remained was this temple and our people and our ancient ways went down with it, the surviving summoners went on to found Zanarkand and the elves suffering serious damage at the end of the war went back into hiding then took the storys of Penace with them as with the theroy with Penance returning and thus the world began to reapair itself, as a fail safe Angels would continue to be reborn until Penance is truly destroyed.
When Sin came into being the elfs edited the storys of Penace and changed the enemy to Sin and planned on using the Angels to destroy Sin but they had no way of finding these angels until one is born in their community then they could track down the others and it appears that one eventually was.
And that my child is story of the avenging Angels and the true enemy we should fear would one day return.
Melina sat back to acknowledge what she has just learned until Eden looked at her oddly.
"The child you'r carrying, is the father an Avenging Angels,"
Melina nodded happyily "Neji, host to Diablos,"
"interesting,"
Melina looked confused, Eden relising Melina's confuse explained herself, "an Avenging Angel has never had a child before, they were forbinned as they had a higher purpose, also the changes the Aeons made to their bodys made them infertile,"
"But it can't anyone else," Melina explained
"Yes child I can feel the power of Diablos coming from the child, this is indeed odd, that child must survive! Summoner I shall join you as you'r faith and protect the child,"
Melina nodded in agreement and the faith fused with Melina's body, gathering her composure Melina rose from her praying postition and walked the chamber, new staff held in hand and down the dark corridor back to Neji. The staff shone with a bright holy light which lit the way for Melina allowing her for a comfortable walk back.
<ooc - see, I would have left that revelation til the sequel as it makes it kinda hard to round off this one nicely because even after we defeat Sin we already know its not over yet. Oh well, no big deal.>
Kobie ducked a wild slash and lunged forward with his Dragon Claws. His evil half turned the attack aside with his own blades then spun round Kobie’s arm outside his guard. Kobie parried with in an explosion of sparks as his opponent’s claws scythed towards his neck. They both lunged again, crossing both sets of blades and pushing forward hard, each trying to drive the other back. The dark reflection suddenly tripped and fell back - Kobie started forward but saw just in time that it was a trick as his opponent caught himself on one hand, and he parried low as the reflection’s other claw swept round towards his exposed leg. The reflection flipped back onto his feet and hacked his claw down in the same movement, but Kobie had already backflipped away, landing spider-like on one knee with his arms held out and behind him <ooc - see Warp Spider pic ;) >. The reflection locked eyes with Kobie, barely even blinking, one Dragon Claw held forward and the other pulled up next to his face.
They stared at each other for a second. Kobie channelled Thunderstrike into his claws and lightning crackled into life along the shining blades. Simultaneously, the reflection’s claws lit up with blue fire. A mocking smile crept up the reflection’s face.
Kobie acted, Timeshifting forward in a powerful leap, his claws aimed at his opponent’s heart. But in a blur of motion the reflection parried and threw him back, his blazing claws searing Kobie’s face as they came within inches of striking his head. With no time for surprise or shock that his reflection also knew how to Timeshift Kobie continued the attack, but his dark reflection matched him move for move. The reflection knew every attack he did, but his attacks were combined with a fanatical fury that drove Kobie back on the defensive.
“I’m growing tired of toying with you, Feyd,” the reflection said, Timeshifting out the way as Kobie attempted to blindside him and hammered his elbow into Kobie’s chest, flooring him. Kobie rolled aside and Timeshifted away as his reflection’s blazing claws smashed apart the stone where his head had been a split-second before. His reflection followed and Kobie dropped to a crouch, leaning to one side to let his reflection lunge past him and roll back up onto his feet.
“You can’t beat me, Feyd,” the reflection said, letting his arms drop to his sides. Kobie took the opening and lunged, his lightning-infused claws leaving a white contrail as they swept threw the air, but the reflections fiery blades rose to meet them and threw him back again.
“You can’t beat me,” the reflection continued as they circled, “Sin’s power flows through me!”
“You’re wrong,” Kobie replied quietly, “Sin can’t create. He can only destroy.”
“Sin only destroys the unworthy! You’ll never be as powerful as me until you embrace him!”
Kobie shook his head.
“I’ve learned to embrace something far more powerful than Sin.”
“You think the power of Ramuh compares to…ah. You speak of love. You speak of your feelings for that Machina-using heretic Sonya Merek.”
He looked pleased at Kobie’s hiss of indignation.
“What have you become, Feyd?”
“Something better than you!” Kobie snarled.
“Believe it or not I know what love is, Feyd. But the rewards of the love you speak of pale in comparison to the rewards if you open your heart to your God.”
“Sin,” Kobie growled, “Is not a god!”
“Let us see once and for all what is the greater power.” the reflection said quietly, almost in a whisper.
They both leapt forward.
“For Sin!” the reflection roared, and Kobie heard himself shouting, “This is for you, Sonya!”
The reflection launched himself at Kobie in one final all-out attack, his misplaced faith in a monster turned god driving him onwards. In the face of his dark reflection’s blind rage, Kobie felt new energy surge through him as he dodged past his reflection’s blades, saw the fatal opening the reflection had left in his defences, and thrust his Dragon Claws home.
The reflection did not cry out, nor did he bleed as Kobie’s claws tore into him. He shattered into shards of glass and disappeared, leaving Kobie alone in the room.
Kobie smiled to himself as he remembered Laconfir’s first words to him when they had arrived at the elven forest. It will not be long before you face your demons again, but you will prevail. And the High Priest had been right. He had prevailed.
Breathing heavily, he turned to look at the mirror which was now shining brightly. The glass rippled like water and beyond it two golden bracers had appeared, hovering in the swirling mist. Tentatively, Kobie reached forward, put his hand through the now-liquid glass, and retrieved the objects. As he held them in his hands they seemed to liquefy and run like water, flowing across his arms and forming a film around the bracers of his Dragon Claws as if they were alive. They seemed to melt into his weapons, binding with them, changing them, until two new shining vambraces had formed. The sliding plates of the hand guards had vanished, as had the hand grips and spring-load bars - the blades were now joined seamlessly to the golden metal. Kobie clenched his fists experimentally, and the claws raked forward of their own accord, but that was not all. The metal became fluid again, flowing round his hands to form protective gauntlets, and long, sweeping blades had appeared from nowhere on the sides of the vambraces, morphing out of the golden metal. The twin blades were covered in runes, curved to a point along the outside edge, and swept from the tips of his Dragon Claws back to his elbows - where they ended in backward-raking spikes - to form guards for his arms as much as slashing blades.
Kobie stared, tried a few experimental sweeping strikes, then opened his hands and relaxed. Again of their own accord the claws retracted and the long side-blades melted back into the main vambraces. In the mirror the mist began to swirl again and eventually cleared to reflect an image of a sandy landscape. Knowing what he had to do, Kobie stepped through the portal. His vision blurred for a second, then he found himself standing outside again, next to the stone obelisk, with Neji’s airship in the background.

“I’m starting to worry about Feyd; he’s been a long time.” Sonya whined to the wolf sitting beside her.
“I’m sure he’s fine.” She replied.
“How can you be so sure?”
“By the fact that he’s standing right behind you wondering why the frak you are talking to a talking fiend?”
Sonya jumped up and spun around, Kobie was standing behind her with a smile, she launched forwards and grabbed him around the neck into a hug, he hugged her back.
“Thank yevon your alright.” He sighed in relief, “Though I am wondering why you are talking to, um…you know what I don’t even have to guess. Fariel, who did you piss off and what did they do to you?” he asked accusingly, Fariel grinning innocently.
